New Mommy with a few Questions...please help. Hi I just got Tyler a month ago for my Birthday. His first week with me he got really sick with low blood sugar. He was literally about to die. We took him to the vet and a couple of hours later he was much better. For those couple of hours I had to pay $535. I was shock at how much I had to pay. So now I'm looking into a Pet Insurance. I have one in mind and its called VIP pet Insurance. Are all pet insurances deal with reimbursement? Do I really have to pay first for the Bill and then get reimbursed for that money? The idea is that I can't afford paying for these medical bills. Is there any better pet insurance out there? Secondly my puppy has been coughing a lot lately. I dont know what to do? I cant take him to the hospital right now because I dont have the money right away. Is there any medicine I could give him with out seeing a doctor? Please help.

Other insurances I believe that there are insurances that if you go to one of their vets you do not have to wait for reimbursement. Check out the internet. Also, check with your humane society, while mine does not handle emergencies (they will refer you to another vet) they do take sick animals and give meds, shots, etc. and they do spay/neuter services. I took both my boys to them for their neutering and they were wonderful. Surgery, pain meds, ecollar only $160 for two and they pulled my one boys three baby teeth. They even called the next day to see how they were doing. They have a daily clinic that only charges $12 for an office visit and they are terrific vets. Orinskye also takes her Toby there too and I was impressed with them. Also they have office hours half day on saturday. You need to either get insurance or what I do (since I had a $2000 emergency overdose with my one) I take the money I would spend on insurance and place it in a special "dog" account at my bank each month. Since the accident, I now have almost $400 in their special account for any emergencies. This is not touched for vaccinations, etc., but saved for real emergencies. Just an idea.

Angel, what do you use to mop your floors? Remember how close to the floors our babies are. My Autumn can't take Pinesol. I don't even use it at all now. I was worried about how she would react when it was dry. She's also bothered by spray disinfectant. I do use it for spraying where they pee on my bed. (Accidents you know.) But I don't let her into the room I used it in until I am sure all the mist has dispersed and dried. Sylvia
