I agree...food is always a good thing to have on hand! You might also want to get an x-pen or puppy playpen along with a crate for house training. Nylabones are good and so are the rope toys that are tied in a knot on both ends...mine love to teeth on those. I use stainless steel dishes so nothing can penatrate the surface and hang around to cause trouble. Enjoy your new baby!

Haha thanks! I had dog food down on my list!!! im getting a baby gate to give him his own little space.. Would you still think a puppy pen is necessary? Also, I'm in two minds about crating -- I just don't like the idea..although friends of mine insist it isnt as inhumane as i think!

So when you mean crate training - do you mean training it to pee and poop in the crate? I don't want to keep him in there while i am at work.. ill get a play pen for him while im away during the day.. i just assumed i would get him to do his business on wee wee pads in specific places in the apartment?

You mentioned pee pads. Are you planning to pad train your baby? If so just use the playpen with a pad inside and that should do it but don't leave them out unattended to use the pads while you're gone. I use washable pee pads and they are great but mine also go outside...pad training is wonderful for bad weather and real cold days though!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Congrats!!! I use to not believe in crate training( I used a dog playpen) and then I did it with Cali and she loved her playpen and would go in whenever she knew I was leaving. Pixie I got at 13 months and she was not use to a crate and hated it, but she is fine in a carrier in the car. Roxie is crate trained and sleeps in hers at night sometimes rather than my bed, by choice. They really are safer in one and you have piece of mind that they have not gotten into anything.
