Donating YT Addict | My Baby thinks he's a Lab! Such a scare! Well yesterday it was pretty nice out...meaning about 42 degrees or so...so we went to visit my friend and her Lab. This little lab is Ozzy's best friend, she is so sweet and gentle with him. Well we were out in the yard and the dogs where playing and we decided to head down to their pond. I put Ozzy's leash on because I didn't want him to follow Cedar into the pond, which had just melted from ice. Well we went down and Ozzy was playing and watching Cedar swim..no big deal. Well my friend says "oh come look at the polywogs" and I stepped close to the pond and I hear a splash! Ozzy jumped in the pond and started swimming! The water was maybe 35 degrees!!! I was so shocked I just hauled him back in by the leash and scooped him up by the harness. We rushed back up to the house rinsed him in warm water and put the blow dryer on him. He was fine but boy it was scary..he's only 17 weeks old! Funny thing is I think he wold have kept swimming if I had let him! Anyway he was no worse for the wear. I stuffed him in my fleece and he was nice and warm again I think Mommy needs to buy a good life jacket!!

| I've got one that loves water too! The others have no interest. Gotta watch the little stinkers all the time!

| That happened to my Libby when she was about 11-12 weeks old. Our pond had just melted and she ran up to it and in she went. Besides the fact that it was ice cold, it was stinky water that had been sitting there since last fall, so I was scared she'd inhaled some water and would get sick. After bringing her in and giving her a warm bath and drying her, I called my vet and he said she should be fine...that there should be no bacteria in the water because of the cold temps. They sure can be little stinkers, huh? I'm glad you were right there and able to get Ozzy out quickly...and that he is okay!

| Without a doubt Lucy is part Lab. We have a pool in the backyard and I have to watch her like crazy. She doesn't mess with it until she sees me go in for the first time and then it's all bets off! I'm glad your munchkin is okay

| He just wants to go swimming! Once the weather gets warmer are you going to let him go swimming? I found a good lifevest at Petsmart, Rocky LOVES to go swimming, when we go to my parents house he starts crying if I don't put him in the pool!

Donating YT Addict | Thank God this pond is man-made for swimming..it's really beautiful and clean. His head didn't go under, I think his harness vest kinda gave him some bouancy I am definatly going to let him go swimming when it gets warm. I'll have to check out the life vests at petsmart. I worry because he wants to keep up with the big dog and he won't be able to swim that far so he will always have his life vest on! such a silly little monkey! The second picture was taken last week..there's still snow on the ground!

| Oh, he is CUTE! Rebel fell in my goldfish pond in the middle of winter when he was 10 weeks old. I did the same thing you did, grabbed him up, warm bath, and hair dryer. He still likes the pond, he just doesn't get close enough to fall in. Glad your little guy is all right.
