| Attacked his new little brother!!! My little Bentley is almost 3 yrs old and the center of my world! I recently decided to get him a little brother, Louie, last week. I introduced them a few times outside our home before bringing him home and things seemed fine. Bentley is more reserved and shy while Louie is VERY playful and friendly (puppy personality). I was hoping Louie could help Bentley be more social. Bentley seems to ignore Louie most of the time when he tries to play and he seems sorta depressed. I try to let him know that I don't love him ANY less. I always give Bentley his treats and toys first to establish his "ranking" so to speak. I brought them up to Tahoe with me this weekend, (I'm typing from the ski lodge on my blackberry), and last night Bentley attacked Louie while sitting on the couch!! It was out of nowhere!! Louie wasn't injured but was screaming and very shaken up. Bentley knew he did something wrong and hid under the bed after that. Things have calmed down since then but I'm freaked that it will happend again!!! Bentley is over 7lbs and Louie is only 2lbs and can be easily injured. We have them now in seperate rooms when we can't be there to supervise. Does anyone have advice or experience with this? I love them both so much and it kills me that they don't get along! Sorry for the long story but I'm so worried!

| When i got snickers the y other 2 dogs.; much bigger.... scottisch terriers were atacking him to and ignoring him most of the time.. when i was outside the room i hear him crying very loud, and then i knew something went wrong again. I have a crate /\bench for snickers and put him in there while i was leaving the room and after 3 weeks it wasds much better for snickers... cause they accepted him. It takes time sometimes.. but now Zorro and Snickers are really buddys.. Zazou is not really paying attention at him.. but wont hurt him when he leaves her alone.... maybe when your out the room , try to put hinm in a crate or bench.. so he will be in the same room as your other dog.. but cant hurt eachoter... so they get more used to eachother.. especially when he is so tiny. good luck. |

| They will warm up... when I brought Diamond home, Cash was a little jealous! He is 7.5 lbs, and was a year and a half. Diamond was 10 mths old and only about 4 lbs when I got her this Christmas. Suprisingly she held her own and she was able to defend herself after she got over the initial shock of him trying to nip her. If Diamond was in my lap, Cash would grab her by the ear and try to pull her off. Once she started to expect it, she would bite his legs in defense. It has now been three months, and everything is back to normal - they play together unsupervised! It will just take time - kind of like bringing a new baby home from the hospital. One suggestion may be to put their crates next to each other when they sleep at night! It helped in my house - they started to calm down after the first week or two. HTH |

| I recently got a puppy and my two older yorkies were very jealous! My boy attacked the little puppy over a toy and I had to reprimand him. That was so hard as I have never said a mean word or talked to him in anger before. Then he got a time out in the kitchen for a bit. You will have to supervise the other dog while around your puppy for quite some time. I can tell you my dogs love the puppy now. They constintly play with her. I just took her to the feed store, came back and my male was kissing her on the mouth and checking her over to make sure she was ok and unharmed while she was out of his site. Very funny. Trust me, they will become friends, it takes some time.

No Longer a Member | The same was with Gizmo and Bubba. Giz is 11lbs and Bubba was 1 1/2lb. At first Giz would run from him afraid and hide. Then he went thru a "this is my house" stage and nipped at him..after a month now they are best buds. Has really made a pup of Gizmo again. Give it some time. They'll make their way. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I had the same problem when I brought 10-year-old, 4-pound Jack to our home with 2-year-old, 9-pound Eddie. Eddie turned toy possessive and would beat Jack if he even looked at a toy. It took a long time to get it under control, but we made it. They're not best friends, but they're pretty close. Was your attack over anything? Like a toy or a treat? Or did Louie get too close to you?

| I've had Phoebe for less than a week. She's almost 7 months old. My little man Zeus is almost 11 months old. I brought him home when he was 12 weeks old. He is a total momma's boy and a very sweet little guy. When he's tired, he likes to lay on my lap and fall asleep. Anyway, Phoebe is a total lap, dog and always wants to lay on my lap. She's actually taken claim to my lap and when Zeus tries to sleep next to her, she nips wildly at him. It's very upsetting because Zeus is such a kind soul, and I hate seeing him being treated that way. When this happens, I tell Phoebe "NO" and put her on the floor. Hopefully, she will learn to share my lap with Zeus.

| We have had Darby for two weeks now. Sawyer is almost two, and weighs 5.5, Darby is 13 weeks, and weighs 2.7. Sawyer is crazy about him; but sometimes darby gets too sure of himself, and sawyer will grab him and darby will roll over to show he knows who is top dog. They worked this out themselves. They lay in the same bed to sleep and play during the day, and cry if they are seperated. I really think time will help you, and they will set thier own pecking order in time. Putting the puppy in the same room; but in a pen is a great idea til they get to know eachother better.

| Little Terrier, Big Attitude! Eventually they'll get along, just give it time!! Gypsy is the 3rd baby we got, she manages to get away with murder, now a days, she's the one in control... She's one tough cookie, she's tiny and thinks that she is big... She jumps up at Gizmo's face, who is 7 lbs heavier than she is, she bites and hangs from his hair when he ignores her... And if we don't greet her first, when we arrive home she bites Nygee's ears... She's a little terrier with a big attitude!!! |
