Default Neighbors

My husband was outside after work yesterday raking leaves and such due to the beautiful spring day. He started talking to our neighbors next door who own a beagle. The beagle is really sweet just doesn't get too much attention from the famly which is very sad. My daughter keeps saying she wishes we coudl take her in because their poor dog is so neglected. Well yesterday the wife started telling my husband that they are thinking of getting rid of their beagle because her and the young daughter want to get a small dog like Kiki. How can they do something like this?? This beagle has lived with them for three years and because they never did their research when picking a breed, now they want to "trade" her in for a smaller model. I'm thinking, what if they get a toy breed next, it could turn out to be a yapper or not be very friendly, then what .. they will get rid of that one too?

I was never a dog lover or animal lover all my life until we got Kiki. How could people be so cruel to something that has been a part of the family.

Just thought I would vent.

Anna

Our family treats Kiki as a part of the family. I can't imagine not having her with us. But we have grown to love her. These neighbors have never gotten close to their dog .. they don't walk her, they leave her outside alone barking all day and night sometimes You can tell they are just not interested in her.

That's a shame. Those people should not even have a dog.

I was thinking the same thing ... maybe the family should get shipped out and keep the dog in the home.

I just can't believe parents teaching their children that it is okay to give up one dog to get a new and improved one. A pet should be for life ... not because the kids get sick of it.

U should see my neighbors cat, I already posted about how she did her kittens and now the mother is out of the shed and garage roaming, more kittens will soon be due I'm sure. Makes me sick! She also has a Shih Tzu someone gave her son due to her telling a sad story (She is one of these that tell a sad story to get what she wants) about her husband leaving for the army (No offense to anyone in the army) again around a year ago, she said she couldn't wait for his coat to get as long as Teddys so she could put his hair up in a pony well do U think his coat is longer in a year? Why no, she can't take care of it that's why it isn't long, U should see the stains around his eyes. She was at 1st taking him out to potty on a leash now for about the past 4 to 5 months she just turns him loose, he roams the street, my yard (Which I holler at him when he gets in my yard), he ran out in front of me while I was driving down the road and in front of my hubby too.

I understand how U feel, she 1st had the kittens (sister and brother, yes her kittens last summer was a litter from this same sister and brother) for her daughters birthday will be 2 years ago this june, and now the dog so I too get so upset when this is happening in our neighborhood. Drives me batty to have my own 5 Yorkies on harnesses and leashes in our own yard (front isn't fenced in yet, back is) so my Yorkies aren't roaming the streets and doing their dirty job in others yards when my own neighbors don't keep theirs up.

But then again, she lets her 9 & 6 year olds ride their bikes all over the streets without being right with them and yes I've seen cars just about hit them. So why would she take care of her cat and dog when she don't watch her kids??? This drives me batty too. Okay thanks for letting me vent about my neighbor to U all sorry but U all are the only ones who know what it is like to go through this with people. Thanks so much for being here for EVERYTHING even about Neighbors & for letting me get this off my chest

I can see your frustration ... some people are not meant to care for pets or children for that matter. I have never let Kiki off the leash in the entire year we have had her. The poor beagle next door ... she is loose all the time. I swear they dont' tie her on the lead like they should so she can break free and get lost purpsely. These neighbors have made so many comments to us when their beagle was returned "oh, I can't believe someone caleld us to pick her up" or "too bad a coyote didn't get her". The beagle runs to our yard where we are always outside with our children playing and Kiki because she knows we will give her attention. It really breaks my heart and this is coming from me, someone who never loved animals.

I work in Greyhound placement and you would not believe the reasons that we get a bounce. God help these people.

I really feel for this poor beagle...but wonder if he wouldn't be better off in a new home. Hopefully, one that will love and take care of him. Now, for the guy who gets a new dog every 6 months...geeze! I have a neighbor who gets a new car every year, but at least it's once a year...He's seeing the dogs as a trophy or something. So many people are so materialistic these days. It has even gone to animals, I suppose.

That is soo horrible! I've only had Meeko for 3 months and I could never give him up! And the reason! they want a smaller dog? uh people are soo spoiled these days. I bet the poor dog is dying for some attention from them. poor guy deserves better. i hope he goes to a family that loves him and treats him the way he deserves to be treated!

It is sad to see him treated this way and her cats too, let alone the kittens. We (Me & My 2 youngest girls) was just watching Animal Cops, they took out 247 cats/kittens out of this home there on the show, it was filthy from those cats, my 9 yr old made the comment that our neighbor wasn't going to do that with her cat this year, I ask do what she said let her have babies and put them in the shed, I said no I'll call the cops. (I did call the HS last year on her and they wouldn't even come out to see it and she had the GUTS to call them the year before and have them get stray cats from her yard, even allowed them to set up the traps for them, then does this to her own cats/kittens).

Right before the show went off, my oldest went to sleep in her bed, youngest fell asleep on the couch, I heard yelping over top of the TV and with all windows closed and door shut, I opened up the front door and bless his heart it was him gated in the kitchen and yelping I know to go out to potty, she is gone of course with her windows open and it was close to 11 pm here and getting chilly. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with crating (Even tho she thinks it's a sin for me to crate mine when need be!) or blocking off doors
but to leave them in there that long and not allow him to go potty. I mean I can see him sleeping all night as mine do and usually can now hold it all night. I don't know maybe it's just me. She also ask how often I bath mine I said once a week. She said oh, I wonder when he gets bathed.

I can't beleive they said that about their dog... "too bad a coyote didn't get her" why in the world would one even think that. My Dad raises beagles and loves them to death, mom says he loves them more then her lol. He does train them to hunt rabbits, but they NEVER chase a deer. He won't allow them to. Of course he don't keep them as clean as I do mine, but they are outside dogs, not inside dogs, now when he has a litter he does bring them in the garage and puts heat lamps on the babies and if one won't nurse he takes it in the house and nurses it. He lets my girls name the puppies and claim those he keeps. He does take care of them but he his self has down sized in how many he has due to getting older and he can't keep up with them. I just don't understand why people get a dog or cat then trade it in. Makes no sense to me. I wouldn't give my Yorkies up for nothing. I mean I've had to downsize too but it broke my heart to adopt them out and when our puppies are adopted out I bawl like a baby and worry so much about them.

I agree that these people should not have any kind of dog. They will be unhappy with a small dog, too, as soon as they find out how much time and attention it requires. I hope they re-home the beagle and don't get another dog. They are not good owners.

Thats very sad that people can treat an animal as if it was a sweater. You get tired of it, you just get rid of it and get a new one!!!

People like that should not be able to own animals. If you are not willing to love and take care of an animal for the possible 15+ years it requires then don't get any at all!

It would be completely understandable if they said the beagle was aggressive towards the family but just because its not the cute "toy" breed you now desire.............to bad, suck it up! You wanted him 3 years ago you should still want him! But maybe that poor beagle would be better off w/a family that will love and appreciate him the way it should be !!!
