| If they are biting the treats and them giving the treats to the dogs, that's called "Baiting". It not only rewards the dogs, it gets their attention when the judge is inspecting. A lot of handlers keep the treats in their own mouths tucked between their teeth and inside cheek. The handler is biting the treat into much smaller pieces to give to the dog, so the treat lasts longer. Hope this helps. ps~ It's so disgusting!!! I have heard that a lot of handlers use things like chicken livers & lungs. And then they put it in their mouths and hold on to it the entire time they are in the ring!!! Eek! Talk about dedication!

| They could have ones that are edible to both humyns and dogs. We went to a dog bakery today www.barkingdogbakeryokc.com and all of their treats are edible for both! My boyfriend at them and said they weren't half bad!

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | i'm no expert but i believe they bite them into smaller pieces. it also keeps the attention of the dogs so the judges can inspect them.

| The woman with the Whipets on Showdogs Mom and Dads said that by keeping the treats (liver, I think)in her mouth, it also got the dogs' attention if she said something because her breath smelled like the treat. Yuck! |
