| Belly Band Question I have a question about how belly bands work. I know a lot of people keep them on males to stop them from marking in the house. But what about keeping them on a male that has occasional accidents? Do belly bands absorb a larger amount of urine effectively?

| I think there are some folks on YT that are making the belly bands with and absorbant pad inside similar to cloth potty pad. I just saw them the other day. I haven't used them for anything but marking, but I would think the absorbant pad bands would be better than just a regular belly band for incontinent babies. I'm sure someone on here has had experience with this.

| I have bought a few of the belly bands. I have read on some of the sites they make them to be able to insert a maxi pad for heavier absorption. Although the ones I have aren't made like that, I was still able to put a maxi pad with it and have it work effectively. I have read though they could cause an infection if they wear the band wet for too long.

| I have my boys in belly bands all day with the thick Poise pads (for incontinence). One pad usually lasts all day. I take the belly bands off at night when they are in their crates. I have never had any irritation or infection. Hope this helps.

| Thanks for the information. Lacy & Rylie are both potty trained but still have occasional accidents when they are home alone. I'm having my carpet cleaned Wednesday and would like it to stay urine-free. I don't want to have to start crating them while I'm gone so I'm just thinking about other options. I'm usually only gone to class during the day for 4-5 hours at a time..and he would only wear it when I'm away from the house..so he wouldn't have it on even all day. I'm just trying to think of a way to keep any accidents from getting on the carpet. And I'm more concerned about Rylie's urine than Lacy's because his is so yellow and stains which makes it harder to clean.

| The bands I made for Juanito have a triple terry cloth layer... I don't like to use the disposable pads, they generate trash, and I don't like the plastic on his skin... the terry fabric works very good for me, and I have 5 bands, and throw them in the washer with baking soda to neutralize and disinfect... Hope this helps!

| I just use plain generic brand maxi pads for my pee pee boy. He full out pees in them all day. (THe little guy was never potty trained before he came to me.) I change him once during the day to make sure he isn't getting too wet. If you want to just use a plain belly band with padding already in it, you might want to make sure it has a plastic liner inside. |

| Bellybands & pads I'm sure you have enough material to make your decision by now. But, just a caution....if you use the bellyband for an extended period of time, be sure to remove it overnight. This is just to prevent irritation and/or infection. We all need to let it all "air-out" once in awhile! |
