Donating YT Addict | Advantix dosage I have a question for everyone...Andvantix small dose is for up to 22lbs. My Ozzy is only 3.1lbs. Do any of you only apply half a tube? A whole one seems like a lot for such a small little guy but my vet said it was ok and if you split it you may not get the full effectiveness. We have tons of ticks up here so I am really paranoid about keeping those nasty critters off my Baby but don't want to make him sick..... any thoughts?

| I don't know if it is right or wrong but I only apply half the tube. Lucy and I visit places that have tics and I've never had a problem so far. I'm sure others will reply also

| This flea product includes the ingredient Permethrin that is in many different brand names (Bioguard, Proticall etc.) so be sure to check what you are using. Here a link to additional information on the flea tick meds Advantix and other people's experiences with this product and effects it has had on their animals. http://www.dogsonly.org/Woof/toast.a...&tid=29&page=1 PERMETHRIN the active ingred. here is a link to the effects of this drug... Please everyone read your active ingred. in your meds!!!!! http://www.safe2use.com/poisons-pest...report/cox.htm Please everyone if you are putting down insect control including termites...ect find out the active ingreds. I know someone who's dog almost died because they used meds with Permethryn in it. |

Donating YT Addict | I'm not crazy about using any chemicals but fleas, ticks and Lyme disease are pretty scary issues also. I struggle with this a lot but we have tons of deer around (we live on a tree farm) and ticks are such a problem that I really think it's necessary. I chose not to vaccinate for Lyme on the recommendation of my breeder because of the low effectiveness and reaction rates of the vaccine so it kind of puts me between a rock and a hard place. : I just don't know what to do. Risk the half dose and not be protected or apply it all and risk that he gets sick I trust my vet but jeesh I still worry....

| Does Advantage still protect against ticks without the permethrin? I think the only difference is that Advantix protects against mosquitos (could be wrong). I do not like Advantix at all.

| I have been searching for a holistic alternative ( that works ), because I refuse to put these chemicals on the dogs, but I have been pulling ticks off of them in record numbers and that worries me too. Has anyone found an effective holistic substitute for the caustic ones? |

| I am so pleased this thread was started. I am also looking for an alternative to these poisonous applications that I am so scared to put on my babies. Lauren

Donating YT Addict | In the Yorkie Products and Reviews section there is a post about Natural flea remedies. Sorry I don't know how to link it...the 4th or so post down has a link to natural recipes. I wonder how they work though...
