| Help! Jasmine got spayed and we are debating on picking her up today or tomorrow. We want to pick her up today to really keep a good eye on her or to trust the vets and let her stay! She is 2 pounds and we are worried that she will get a low sugar since she hasn't aten since 9 last night! Please help us decide!

| Pick her up today. It would be better if she is home with you and you can watch her

| I would pick her up and watch her at home. Sometimes the vets office doesn't have anyone staying overnight to monitor them. |

| It depends, if someone will be there to watch her overnight, it may be better for her to stay there in case something happened -- the vet would already be there to help treat her. However, if no one will be there, I think you should take her home so you can keep an eye on her overnight.

| If nobody stays there AWAKE overnight, pick her up. If someone is there, I would consider letting her stay but I see no problem bringing her home either. I would stay up all night with her though (I am over protective ).

| Personally, I wouldn't leave my dog overnight.

| If there is someone there, it is all about what you're comfortable with. Ellie came home about 4 hours after her spay and liver biopsy but I stayed up all night with her. All spays and neuters are released the same day at Ellie's vet and that is fine unless you're not comfortable...

| you're lucky if you have a choice, some of the vets will not let you take them home..believe me, I tried with Ginger..but, they said they sleep a lot the night they're spayed, and if something goes wrong they're right there, and it's better for them to be with a vet that knows what to do if there is any problems. |

They can refuse to do the surgery if you insist on taking them home but if you tell them after, they can't hold them... It is your dog.

| I asked after her surgery if I could come and get her, she said the vet wants to keep her all night, she said most of the time they are so groggy they sleep all night..that's when I said is there someone here with them? She said yes(there are 3 vets) and they all take turns staying with them when the dogs have had surgery..but, it's okay, this way if anything happened the first night, they were there with her..If they would have said no one was there, then I would have probably gone back there and gotten her... |
