YT 2000 Club Member | Not Yorkie Related But One Heck Of Scare Isaiah is our boxer boy who'd up in his age and gettin to be an old man. He's the best behaved out of all our furkids and listens better than the skin kids most of the time. His best friend in the whole wide world is our 18 year old son Ross who Isaiah is very close and attached to, so attached that he sleeps in his room on his bed under the blankets with him and has for years. When Ros goes to school of a morning, I try and get Isaiah to stay downstairs with me but he just sulks and goes right back up to Ross's room and gets on his bed and stays there till Ross gets home. Just as soon as he hears Ross's vehicle turn onto our road, he's down the steps and waiting at the door all wiggles and jiggles like life has litterally been blown back into him. He normally doesn't stay in his kennel cause he's very well behaved and never gets into anything he shouldn't. I've been round and round with Ross over this though cause I just feel he's safer in the kennel when Ross isn't home and we're away at the store or something. Anyhow, with it being Easter and lots of chocolate laying around, Isaiah decided he wanted some yesterday evening. I spend most of the day in bed on a heating pad and the next thing I knew, Ross came busting through my door tears all welled up in his eyes yelling, "MOM, ISAIAH JUST ATE MY WHOLE ONE POUND CHOCOLATE RABBIT!!" I jumped up out of bed in a panic and of course way to panicked to think, it's weird, cause when it's someone elses kid or furkid, I can think, but when it comes to our own, I panic and literally cannot think!! Long story short, Isaiah is ok, the ER vet said he's got his weight going for him, he's a bit overweight right now, we've gotten him to lose 13 pounds so far and thankfully he's still a big boy cause even though he ate a whole pound of the chocolate, it wasn't enough compared to his weight to be at toxic levels. I gave him hydrogen peroxide and he vomited, has had the scoots once but other than that he's doing pretty good this AM, showing no other signs of toxidity. Even though it was an accident and Ross didn't think Isaiah could get to the chocolate where it was in his bedroom, I've made it very clear, Isaiah is NOT allowed back in his room until he puts the kennel back together in there and if I catch Isaiah in his room one time without Ross in there, that's it, I'll put the kennel down in my bedroom and Isaiah will stay down here with me and sleep and be kenneled in here when we have to run to the store or something. Ross feels really bad, Isaiah is his bestest buddy and it'd just kill him if we lost Isaiah, but last night showed him that, Isaiah although he's very well behaved, he's still a dog and WILL get into things he shouldn't, it's like tossing a t-bone in front of them in a room and thinking they won't go for it. Please PLEASE, I bet of you all, keep the easter candy and chocolate put wayyyyy up and out of reach of your furkids, it's literally a matter of life and death. Our kids is now in the very top cupboard of our kitchen and that's where it will stay until they want some of it and then it goes right back. Here's a link a friend of mine sent to me last night, I hope none of you will need it, but it's here in case you do: http://www.petplace.com/dogs/chocola...ity/page1.aspx

| Sure glad you survived that emergency!!!! Was wondering, though, since Isaiah is "up in his age and gettin to be an old man" what his reaction will be to being kenneled when he hasn't been for such a long time? But then we "gotta do what we gotta do" to keep our furbabies safe.
