| second time going into this Petland~ ok, here is the background. I bought my first yorkie from this petland thats close to my house about two years and few months ago. and it was totally unplanned, I was in there with a girlfriend, I saw this little girl yorkie sleeping on the wire, so uncomfortable, and she seemed so sad. I just couldn't stand it, so I took her home (paid a very high price of course). I named her Rainer. Rainer was less than a pound the time I took her home, and she was already 12 weeks old. she was that tiny not only because she has a small frame, also that she was unbelieveablly skinny. this girl worked there told me she only had to eat once a day plus a little bit of nutri-cal. of course it was not the case. as soon as i took her home, she started to suffer from low blood sugar. we took her to the emergency room twice. I had to mix can food with water and force fed her with a syringe every four hours for two weeks, and she finally started eating on her own and gaining weight. now rainer is a two and a half year old healthy little girl, weighing over three lbs, still small, but very healthy for her body structure. I learned my lesson when I wanted to get rainer a playmate. I got a beautiful girl yorkie from a reputable breeder. I name her Dolly. she is about rainer's size but very healthy from day one. TODAY, I went to the Sally next to that petland, out of curiosity, I went into that petland. I saw an even worse picture, this tiny tiny little boy yorkie was sleeping in the food bowl because there was nothing else solid to sleep on, and the holes of the wire footing was a lot bigger than his little feet. this girl works there took him out of the bowl, and after she left, he went back in there again and started to try to throw up, as he was shaking, but nothing came out. yorkie parents that have experienced yorkies with low blood sugar should know, this is one of the symptoms. my husband was trying to find someone to take care of this little boy as I was literally running out cuz my tears were about to come out. it reminded me so much of my little girl Rainer. my situation just does not allow me to get another dog. but I just couldn't stop thinking about him ever since. pictures 1. rainer 2. rainer 3. dolly 4. rainer and dolly |

| I don't go to the cages anymore when I go into a pet shop because I want take them all home. Maybe if you went to the manager about the little boy, they might make his and the other animals living conditions better? Hopefully they will see that it is not right to live like that everyday. I am in tears picturing that little boy. My baby came from a small shop that wasn't as bad as that, they treat their pups much better but they are still in cages. You're girls are beautiful.

| Good Grief!!!!......It seems like every day someone posts something that just rips your heart out to hear of it. I had never heard of Petland before coming to this site and all I hear are horror stories about them. I'm afraid in your case I would have made a scene......all the better if the police were called. There are laws to protect animals and a case as serious as this sounds like crosses the boundary to being illegal. Congratulations and bless you for rescuing Rainer but the sad thing is that another innocent puppy took her place in the suffering she endured. I don't have any answers to this problem; it seems to be everywhere. All I know is the more of these stories I hear of, the madder I get. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is so sad. I hope he gets "rescued" before it's too late. I stopped going in those type of places as I get so upset. Your babies are adorable.

| That poor, poor baby! It just breaks my heart to hear about that pitiful little boy! I don't go in the stores that carry pets like that anymore either...it's just too hard for me to bite my tongue. I'm more likely to bite someone's head off! |
