| Animal Testing- Petition Hey everyone, I found another really, really important petition which we all should sign. It's to stop commercial testings on animals. This cruel treatment is actually not needed to make user-safe products, and literally tortures some harmless animals for up to five years. Please, sign this petition, and pass it onto your friends! Thanks! http://petitionearth.com/viewpetition.php?id=80 Last edited by Joey4422; 03-21-2008 at 08:23 PM. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That petition is against all animal testing. It's not just against inhumane testing or unnecessary testing. Lets say someone wanted to test a products safety, for example, microchips in dogs. They wouldn't even be allowed to see if microchips were harmful. Lets say a food came on the market or chew toy, they wouldn't be able to test the safety of that either. It ridiculous to be against all testing. How would we ever even find out which dog foods are the best if there is absolutely no testing. This just makes it harder for the legitimate companies and easier for many overseas companies that don't follow our laws anyway. Things aren't this black and white. Don't be duped.

Ditto! Legitimate animal testing is a necessity. We would have very little science without it.

| I signed the petition. I feel it is important to protect all animals against testing and cruelty. We have a animal testing lab facility in our area and it makes me sick to think about the treatment of those animals. I always go out of my way to buy products that are not tested on animals. No animal should have to suffer for the almighty dollar!

| Yeah, I agree with all of you actually haha . Obviously not all animal testing is going to be banned, Congress would never approve it, and, I agree that it shouldn't be completely banned; that's not what this petition is fighting for. There are many times where it helps. However, with today's laws, animals are often abused and not treated with respect. This petition is simply going for more regulation in this area; regulation which we desperately need. By signing it, you are helping the issue gain notice within our government, and, as it is looked into, many of the atrocities will be discovered and fixed. Read the petition body- this isn't going for a complete ban, but simply a stronger stance against animal cruelty during animal testing. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It states: "We ask that you as the Senate committee on Science, Commerce and Transport encourage a bill to end animal testing in American companies and research institutes." That's what it wants to do. That first sentence is the most important one. " End means end. The body of the letter talks of other things, but the bill wants to end all animal testing in America companies and universities, and they are usually the most humane. So many overseas companies have labs over here that are awful, be careful what you sign. I Love Bailey, try to find out who owns the company located near you. Is it an American Company?

| Here is a link to a thread I started in January about stopping animal cruelty worldwide: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...DWIDE+PETITION I know there are lot of loopholes and legalities in all these petitions but we need to raise public awareness and start somewhere! I am not a crazy person; just someone who wants to see changes in the laws to protect animals. I cannot stand by living my life and do nothing to help when it is so desperately needed.

| Yeah, it's not about banning it completely, it's just for making a stance against an injustice. Please, sign the petition, and pass it onto your friends. The link again is: http://petitionearth.com/viewpetition.php?id=80 |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Yeah!!!! I signed the petition. Thanks for the heads up! We are here to protect animals, not to abuse them. However, experimentation for drugs and procedures to actually help animals and humans is necessary. Look at the work being done on liver shunts at UT in Tennessee!!! As long as this work is being done humanely, with animals' and humans' best interests in mind, I see it as necessary.

| True. Some sacrifices are necessary, but if you look at some videos about what goes on today, it's sickening. |
