Will they be floppy ears forever??? My Max is nine months old, and ears are staying down. I've tried taping them and making sure the hair is kept short, but still no success. When Max lies on his back, his ears look as if they're in the upright position...and he looks incredibly adorable. He has a fuzzy teddybear face!!! Is it too late now....Does anyone have a secret??? :

I'm sorry to say that yes, it is too late now. You have to catch that early on if you want the ears to stand up. I'm sure he is just adorable as he is though

| i don't believe that it's too late..has he lost all his teeth yet? my coco is almost 8 months and still hasn't lost all his teeth yet. and his ears are part floppy. some people believe that you can get a yorkies ears to go erect at any age. of course it depends on the ear texture and thickness. post a pic so that we can have a better look at his ears most of the time you can tell just by looking at his ears if they are going to go up or not. don't give up hope just yet...

| You never really know. How long did you have the tape on?? Shave the ear top half, Shave it a bit more than the top 1/3.. Put the tape on and then tape the two ears together. leave it for 2 -3 days, take it off and look, if still not standing put the tape back on, do this on and off for a week. Then if they still aren't standing, they probably won't stand. But Yorkies look cute with floppy ears too..

My Desi is almost 8 months and her ears FINALLY came up a few days ago. I took her to the Vet a week ago monday to be fixed and have her baby teeth pulled and a few days later her ears went up and stayed up. I don't know if one thing is related to the other but I don't care. After months of taping, giving her cottage cheese, etc. Her ears are finally up. It was a long hard battle.

Keep Trying Keep trying to tape them with masking tape. make sure they are in an upright position with a bridge inbetween . And you must shave off the V shape if you are to be successful. This worked for me hope this helps you. LOL

Answers Hi I want to answer more of your questions. Firts you must shave a v shape on the back of her ears and front or 1/3 of the ear with razors if possible to make sure there is no hair. Next use masking tape a good brand that is very adhesive and put a strip of tape across the front t with the sticky part of the tape facing the ears make sure that when you tape the taping holds both ears up and pointed. once you achieve this follow the same on the back and connect the back and the front by sticking each strip together. There must be a small bridge between both ears. Leave it for two weeks and then check no longer to allow regular circulation. If no results do it again for two weeks and again and you should acheive success.

My Shelbie had thick ears and I thought they would never go up, I taped and taped. all of a sudden when she was close to a year, they both stood! I don't know what happened. Mia's stood on their own at 8 weeks old. I guess there is no rhyme nor reason. I have seen some yorkies with the ears down and they are every bit as cute too.

Thank you all for sharing your experinces! I am thrilled that I have found YT!! Maybe I will continue trying by shaving Max's ears and taping them. When I have taped before, I always felt bad for him(thinking it was uncomfortable) and maybe I took the tape off too soon, or just didnt repeat the process long enough. I may even try the cottage cheese, I'm guessing thats for the calcium???? I'll post any progress and try posting pics soon

I have a book that told me to keep the tape on for 3 days (unless the ears get wet and take the tape off ) check them and retape them if they need it. Yes the cottage cheese is for the extra calcium needed when they teeth.
