| My babies are in TROUBLE Hello everyone. I sure hope someone can help me with a BIG problem I am having with my babies. I have two of them. 3 mos and 4 mos. They have discovered that it is GREAT fun to tear up the puppy pads all over the kitchen and laundry room. I am sooooooooo upset with them. When they do this, I show them what they did tell them NO NO NO and put them in a cat carrier, a separate one for each of them, and give them a time out. It is NOT working!!!!! I dont know how to break them of this. It has just started this past week. The first time is when we were gone for most of the day. All the other times, we are right here. I go to the other room, come back and have to clean up another one. Please help!! Ronda |

| Hi, sorry you're having problems. They make frames to go around the pads and some people swear by them. I'm going to have to try one out with Scooter, because he does the same thing sometimes! |

| You might try the washable potty pads...they can't destroy them and the bottoms are leak proof so they won't mess up your floors. |

| My baby went through this stage too.... it lasted about month of everyday coming home to peices of wee wee pad all over my room and a puddle of pee where the pad should have been. It helps a little if you tape the edges but she did manage to rip it up when she really wanted to. There are also special holder for wee wee pads with an adhesive floor. I know they offered it to me at the pet store but i dint think it would be worth paying about 15 bucks for it. Boy was i wrong. But thankfully they usually grow out of all these "stages" rather quickly. Good luck |

| i was going to suggest this. I have never used pads for my dogs...but when I was babysitting a puppy that was being pad trained....I had the same problem. now that I have tessa and she was pad trained before coming here...I have bought some of the washable ones and leave one out for her by the back door and it is amazing. she used it today cuz it was rainy out...and I didn't even have to show her where it was. she found it on her own and used it!!! and there is no way for her to tear it up!!!

| That is very normal for pups to do..I have all 4 of my little ones trained to pee pads..I tried the pee pad holder, but, they can still dig at it and tear them up, I wasn't too crazy about it, so, I gave it to my son and his fiance..they have my little 7 mos old girls brother..he was tearing his up(with the pad holder) in the night and while they were gone..hubby suggested to put a radio on for him when it was bedtime and when they were gone, it worked like a charm, he quit that night with the "tearing"..they do outgrow it..I thought about buying the washable ones, but, hubby said no way, he didn't want their pee pads where his clothes, our towels and bed sheets get washed |

| You can also buy them on ebay. Some people sell the 'reclaimed' pads...that means they have been used and cleaned...but I don't know what went in them to begin with and I don't know if they were sterilized or just washed in regular laundry...so...I'd rather pay the price for brand new pads! We have a medical supply store here in town and I picked up several of them there but I'll buy my next ones on ebay. The printed tops look nice but I like the white tops so if there's any change in urine, stool, heat cycles or whatever I can see it and it won't be hidden by a printed fabric top. I use the 24 by 35 for out in the living room and the smaller (chair pad) size for in their kennels and they fit perfect. As for washing them...I run a empty load of hot water with bleach after I wash the pads but once I get moved to a bigger home I'll have an extra washer for doggie items. | I also vote for the washable pads. I bought mine from Little Bit (Nancy) right here on YT. A lot of us have bought them from her. They are really nice. She has patterns that not only will go with your decor but also many that don't even show the pee spots!! We tried taping our paper ones down too for a while. But then they just scratched at the center until they got it torn up anyway. Good Luck and HANG IN THERE. It will get better - PROMISE!

| puppy pads Well washing in the washer were all other clothes go is not a very appealing idea, However I will get some of them I am sure and I will wash in HOT water, the pads ONLY, and I will add BLEACH to the wash. I am SOOOOOOOOO glad to hear that I can use such a thing. The money I spend for the pads is redeculious. They seem to not want to use it when it gets wet and I am changing them ALOT. This information is a God send for me!!! I checked out that site to order Reclaimed Pads and I am going to order some of them immediately!!! I will be able to sleep well tonight!!!!!! How can I say thank you enough!!!! Ronda, Harley and Sophia |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Morgan is trained to go outside. However there was a time when i first got my current job with longer hours. She started peeing before i got home. I tired the washable pads but she just thought they were another blanket in her pen. I sprayed the housebreaking pee stuff on the pad and still she wouldn't use it. after a few days of this my dad started getting home earlier then me and he takes her out so no more problems. she is also older now and can hold it longer. Back when she was a puppy i sometimes left pee pads in her cage when i thought i would be gone long. i'd come home to shreds. I tried taping it down and she managed to rip it up still. Then i went out and bought the plastic holders.... Well they held the pad in place alright but she ate the middle of the pad out! While she was doing this she never once went in her crate. now i never leave anything in her pen with her. She holds it until i come home or until someone else comes home to let her outside. She never has an accident, unless its the runs and she just can't help it PS - forgot to add that i bought mine from Beyond Spoiled but i don't know if the owner still has the site running.
