Miami Yorkie Status For those of you that read my plea for help on my 8month Yorkie I just wanted to report the good news that she pulled through. We live in Miami, Florida, and from my last post I see that it has been about 3weeks since I sought advice. It was touch and go for awhile, and it certainly seems like it has been longer than two weeks. We took Max to the emergency clinic and from there to another dog hospital for a full week of treatment and oversight. Max coincidentally returned to us last Saturday, and her first week with us, which also feels like much longer, has been a good week. Her first few days she felt her way, and seemed not to recognize the 4 of us, but by midweek he was essentially back to normal. While he is still thin, he has gained some weight and is eating and acting normal. What was the problem? The doctors diagnosed a pancreatic disease probably stemming from something eating, though xrays did not reveal anythinGg. While it set us back $2,000, at a time when we did not need such a hit - I have been unemployed since October, we have no regrets in having done it. The first few days when Max was still on the brink the conversation was had about putting him to sleep, but we allowed the extra time to see what direction he took, and we are glad we did. He deserved the chance to live, and we are glad that gave him the chance. The 4 of us are happy and the family unit is back in tack. Now that Max is will, pray for me, so that I can quickly get a good job. For those of you that cared about Max, thank you and we are pleased to report that he is well, RG

I think I must have missed your original post; however, I am so glad to see that Max is doing much better. I think problems with the pancreas are pretty common in Yorkies (though unwanted, of course). Several members of this forum have babies with pancreas problems and they can be a great source of information for you. Best of luck with your little guy!

Miami Yorkie Justed wanted to thank those of you that posted and those that said silent prayers. I was born and raised in NYC and never had a pet until recently, at the urging of my wife and daughters. Because of my unemployment situation, Max and I have gotten particularly close. It has been an amazing experience for me - having a dog, and one that I wish I would have done earlier. It was my wonderful experience with Max that made it a no-brainer to not spare any expense in treating him, despite my unemployment situation and the fact that we have very little savings. I have no regrets, nor will I, about what we did, and he continues to do well and get ever closer to being a healthy dog - I just hope the God of Dogs will reward me with a nice job soon! Thank you again to all and God bless, Rod from Miami, Florida

| Welcome to YT. Pray that you will find a job and Max will continue to thrive. The threat of a pancreatic attack is what finally got my dh to quit giving table food to my furbabies. Been after him for years. Joining YT and reading about the dangers of feeding fatty table food was the key. Hope that you will find YT equally enlightening.

Glad to hear Max made it! Rod, not sure of your computer skills, but I will tell you my hubby has been unemployed for a while, he has taken up Ebay and is able to fill in the gap with selling extra stuff we have, and also buying and reselling on Ebay.....he has a way of writing ads that do very well, and we have sooooo much extra stuff lying around and in storage buildings..... It is pretty easy and sure makes a difference....
