| Anxious Yorkie Hi, I am new to this forum and hope someone can help me with my little guy. He is 8 yrs old and I have had him since he was a puppy. He spends a lot of time with me, and I love him to death. During the day he is his usual playful and sweet self, but for the last month or so, when we go to bed (he sleeps on my bed) he shakes and pants like crazy. I try to comfort him and he climbs on my face. He doesn't settle the whole night. I have tried Rescue Remedy and Lavander, but they don't really help. I have gone to bed with the lights on, but it hasn't made any difference. I don't think he is sick, because he is totally normal during the day. I talked to my vet and there they suggested talking to an animal behaviourist; she didn't have much to say. HELP!!! |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Make sure he can get off the bed easily. He could be having a problem getting up and down at night now and it is causing him to be nervious about bedtime. My 9 yr old non-yorkie doesn't sleep with us anymore as at about 7 he started needing to potty in the middle of the night and cannot jump up on the bed so he got very restless at bedtime. Now he sleeps in our master bathroom and has a pee pad for his night time potty break.

| Hmmmmm never heard about that before. Perhaps he fell off the bed one time and you did not know it and now he's fearfull of it? I would get him a doggie bed and put it right next to yours, leave a night light on so you can see him and see if he reacts the same way. He is frightened it seems of something. Good luck, |

| Maybe get doggie steps to help him get down, if its a potty issue.

| Welcome to YT. I am so glad you joined us. I'm sure someone will have just the right answer for you. Murfee slept with us under the covers for 3 1/2 years but all of a sudden won't anymore. He usually won't even sleep on the bed with us Good luck.

| Thank you for your replies. I don't get the sense he needs to pee. He gets stressed as soon as we go to bed. He is now sleeping with my teenage daughter, whom he loves, because I am exhausted. He is just the same in her room. Sometimes she will put him on the floor, where he has a blanket, and she says he still stresses. I cannot think of anything specific that could have happened to him. He certainly has never fallen off the bed or gotten hurt in any way. Does anyone else have an anxious Yorkie? |

| shaking?panting? highly stressed as if afraid of unknown something??? aisy has ths behavior when i make grilled cheese sandwiches,, or nearly burn anything when cooking,, and she also does it when she is hearing something Unknown,, like yesterday,, she had one of those episodes,, took me forever to figure out why,, once i opened the door,, i could hear what sounded like someone using a table saw,, which makes a particularly high pitched distinctive sound,, but thats what it was,, and telling her it was ok,,didnt do at all,, finally i put her harness on her and we walked a mile,, came back inside,, and played with her with her favorite ball til my arm about fell off,,lol, ,finally she was pooped out,, and it had gotten very warm (80) and i had to turn on the AC and I turned the surround sound on the tv,, finally she got over it,, or they stopped,, but finally she napped,, sure hope ya'll can figure out what the deal is,, Good Luck!

| When he started this it was at 3:00am like clockwork. It made me wonder if he heard something outside. We live in a farm, so I thought maybe there was an early bird farmer doing something. (?) The only other thing I can think of is that we have had a mouse in the wall, but I can't imagine it always made noise at exactly 3:00am. |
