| Chewing on base boards, walls, doors.... My dog Kelsey keeps chewing on base boards, walls, and doors. It is ruining my apartment! It's mainly in the hallway by the front door (where we leave) but, today she did it in my bedroom on the door while my boyfriend was home in the other room. I had bought the Bitter Apple spray but it seems it wears off or doesnt work. I dont know what else to do! I disciplined her today, told her "bad girl, no bite" and rubbed her nose near the mess. She's done teething...she isn't biting me like she used to when she was teething so i doubt it's that. Any suggestions? Im so stumped and over this!

| Here we go again I have two male yorkies that tried to do the same thing, I live in an apartment as well. I was watching the Animal Planet show, "you good dog you" one Sunday morning and they discussed this very issue. I tried it and it works. Go to your cheapest discount store (like the 99 cent store) and pick up clear stick antiperspirant. Rub over all the areas that the dogs like to chew. I guarantee your dog will take one taste and will never try it again. I only had to apply once and to be sure I keep it on about every 6 months or so and my boys hate it and will not chew anything that has been rubbed with the stick! I have told this to many YT's and they have all had success with this method, plus it is not messy and does not show! I even used this on the edges of my area rug as they loved to chew it. Stopped them cold. At Petco they carry a stick packaged similar to the antiperspirant and it is called "Stay Away Stick" and it has the same ingredients and they charge $10 for it! Try it, I know that it will work. It has been almost a year since my boys have chewed anything that they are not supposed to. |

| Hmm thanks I'll have to try that! What do you think the cause of her doing it is? Boredom, lonliness, teething? I have no idea!

| My trainer when I went to k-9 education to become a licensed dog trainer told me about using anti-persperant too. I have never had any issues with chewing but its good to know. |

| Linus does that too. He's been chewing the carpet by my bedroom door. We just got him some more toys. We also sprayed everything with Bitter Apple. That curbed it real fast. He makes the worst face when he gets within 3 feet of it!

| Gucci did the chewing on the walls and furniture. I tried the bitter apple spray, tell her NO in a stern voice and gave her something else to chew on. I didnt had to try the antiperspirant stick, but I heard it work. I hope it works for you. I think they chew cause of boredom, teething and loneliness. Let us know if it work. |
