| My Baby Yorkie (8weeks) is hurt Help!! My baby yorkie just jumped off the bed (2ft) in height and is limping when he is walking. His front right leg cannot stand on the ground. This happened with a dog of my friend before and the leg became okay. What should I do right now? |

| Maybe he is just scared. I would watch him carefully and if it doesn't get better soon, take him to the vet. Welcome to YT. Love to have more Texans join.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I would wait over night to see if it is better tomorrow. If there doesn't seem to be anything else wrong that is. I actually had a puppy fall and she limped for a couple of days but the vet said she was fine.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Maybe I'm just overly cautious but if he can't put any weight on the leg and it's painful to do so, I would take him into an ER vet for an x-ray.

| A broken or hurt leg is not an emergency but need to be adressed.... hy, You can call your vet first thing in the morning and they will confirm with you... of course you do not need to rush into ER in the middle of the bight , they mostly would offer to keep an eye on the dog until the morning shift begins anyways.... but if you call emergency or your vet they will sugest to bring the puppy in to be checked out and maybe they will take an xray , maybe they will just have some special recomendations , but do let it go ... call a vet or animal hospital at least !!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry to hear that. Can you see if he will put any weight on it when you put your hand under the leg. I would try and keep him quiet and maybe in his crate until morning. Hope he is ok. I found with these little ones it's best to have stairs or a ramp by the bed and train them to use them before letting them on the bed. Even doing that my puppy has jumped off instead of using the ramp a time or two.

| I hope your baby is going to be o.k!! I would check and make sure he's not in pain, hopefully it's just a scare for him and he didn't break anything. If he's acting like he is in pain though I would take him in right away.

| If he cannot bear any weight on the leg, it's serious. He could have a broken leg, a torn ligament, or dislocated something. But non-weight bearing lameness means there is a serious problem and something needs to be done now. If he was just limping a little I might wait...but not if he isn't bearing any wait at all. At 8 weeks old this puppy was too young to have left its breeder. Toy breed dogs shouldn't go to their new homes until a minimum of 12 weeks of age. You need to be very careful to make sure he eats well and doesn't get hypoglycemic. For the leg, I'd be making a trip to the ER

| Thanks everyone. First of all, I would like to correct my Yorkie's age. Please excuse my ignorance! On the Vaccination paper, it says 8 weeks on Feb. 16, 2008. So.. He is about 12 weeks old. Secondly, he is starting to put weight on his leg. I massaged it for a hour as he fell asleep. I had this Yorkie for a day now, and he hasn't barked one time. He is such an adorable puppy and I appreciate everyone's concern. It makes me feel like I am not alone with my Yorkie. My guy friends don't really care. Haha you guys know how I feel tsk tsk. I will keep everyone updated and my puppy Max says "Thank you! I will be well!" |

| I would suggest you not put your puppy up on anything unless he is able to jump up on it himself. There have been soooo many injuries this way. As far as the leg goes they will unsully scream in pain if a break has occured but why take a chance of an injury happening in the first place if it can be prevented |
