| Climbing over his gate. Dusty has learned how to climb over his gate. At first he would climb to the top and then cry for me to come get him down. Now he has figured out that if he goes one more step he can get out. So much for his gate now. Has any of yours learned to climb like this?

| I have one that can climb over and one that can jump over. I sympathize!

YT 2000 Club Member | Maggy May hasn't learned to do this but I can sure sympathize with you as well, I'd be so worried they'd get their lil legs caught and then fall. But out of curiosity, what DOES one do in this kinda situation? I mean, if you add another gate to make it even higher, I'm sure they'd just climb even higher. My daughter has a chiuahuah and a room that is ALL HIS, she didn't have a gate and I wasn't given mine up cause we use it for our furkids but she did have a new piece of extra counter top. I measured the doorway and cut it down to size and then put it in the doorway and placed screws along the one side (there's trim on the other side and it keeps him safely in there when she can't keep an eye on him. It's all flat so he can't climb it but I'm sure once he gets older, he'll be over it with just one jump, lol.

| Holly can climb up and out of anything. I had to buy her a pen with smooth plastic sides that she cannot get out of. You might try having a piece of plexi glass cut to fit over the width of the gate, then secure it to the gate by drilling holes in it and using screws or ties or something. Put the plexi-glass side towards the room where you contain your dog. That should keep him from climbing out. The little bugger!

| My little boy figured out how to climb and jump over his gate. He is very determined little boy. I was just concerned about him hurting himself in the process. I use to gate him in the kitchen when we left him home but that didn't last. At 3-4 months old, he had already figured out how to get out. I tried getting taller gates but he would squeeze through the bars. I don't want him to get hurt but he is pretty ballsy. I now allow him to have the living room and only gate the stairs. He doesn't get into any trouble when he isn't confined for some reason. I guess he just chills out. He gets into more things when I am there to get attention. |
