What do you think??? I have an opportunity to buy a female Yorkie. She is a year old. Due to unforeseen curcomstances, her current mommy needs to move and cannot take her Yorkie with her. I called her and asked most of the the right questions. Well, I hope I did any way. I would like to breed her, but, I have a few questions to ask the knowledgable people on this forum. First she is 9 lbs, will this be a problem trying to sell larger puppies or if I breed her with a small male will the puppies be an acceptable size to most. Second her ears do not stand up. Will she pass this trait on to her puppies and should I be concerned? I have gone to see this cutie pie and her personality is so sweet, she is good natured and loves to play, but is not hyper. I also love her coloring. I would have taken a pic but did not bring my camera. Rose and Lexi

She sounds like she would be a wonderful pet. I haven't had a kitten or puppy in 25 years. A prefer adopting adult animals. To answer your questions about breeding her, a responsible breeder only breeds dogs that are good representations of the breed standard. A nine pound floppy earred Yorkie is not that. Breeding her to a small male won't produce puppies within the standard. Genetics is complicated business and should be left to the experts. She sounds like she has a wonderful personality. Would you consider adopting her for a loving pet?

Just because it's a 9 lb yorkie, it doesn't mean the pups are going to be that big..My 14 lb yorkie came from 2 4 lb dogs..I would be more concerned about the ears..my shepherds mom had a lazy ear, and my shepherd has one also..Whatever you decide to do..good luck.

I was under the impression that some Yorkies ears just have less cartilage and that sometimes pups ears do not stand up. I didn't know it was a gene thing. I guess because I read some people tape the ears. I need to educate myself better. Rose and Lexi
