| Help! He Wont Stop Biting Geeez louise I thought this would have stopped by now. My little Shelby will NOT stop biting and I mean hard annoying biting. I say, "Shelby NO BITE!" and hell bark at me, and try to ignore him, and then Ill be on the computer and hell bite my laptop or go bite the cats nose and she will slap him.(shes declawed, dont worry). I have bought so many chew toys from ropes to stuffed animals and he mauls them. Is he wild and crazy or is this just a puppy thing. I dont want him to be older and still attacking peoples toes and hands and hair and anything else he can bite. I was hoping the cat would be able to teach him about biting but instead she just ignores it and lets him or after an hour then shell slap him( she has a high tolerance for him)lol. What do I do, or WHAT can I do if anything? Any training tips? Im gonna record him soon so you all can see, be on the look out under the vid section. | This is just puppy behavior. You have to be consistant on a daily basis telling your puppy no bite whenever he's biting something he's not suppose to. It does not happen over night. Over a period of time, perhaps when he's six months you will see a difference. You did not say how old he is. I'm guessing he's teething. Have lot's of safe chew toys around and when he bites something he's not suppose to say no bite and put his toy in his mouth. As far as protecting your furniture they make a safe spay called Bitter Apple. Put that on the furniture. It's safe and hope he does not like it. Some do and other's hate it. It worked for me. Good luck. Don't give up it will get better. He just has to grow up. |

| I just ordered the bitter apple spray from petco.. I hope it works bc Isabella is a biter as well.. But its definitely puppy behavior you just have to let him know "NO Biting" or you can do a yelping sound to let him know no to bite you. Just have to be consistent, its hard you should see my hands..LOL.. Since he is only going be 8wks he didnt have the opportunity to learn from his littermates n mom biting inhibition so you just have to keep telling him no or try the spray, which I hope works on Izzie.

| He might be too young for this...but my puppy is 8 months old and he had a bad habit of nipping our hands and our pant legs while we walked and so I got the suggestion from someone here to get a can of air (like you use to clean your keyboard) and when he does it to spray it (I don't spray it at him just around him) and he HATES the sound of it and he stopped doing it within about 2 or 3 times. Now when I pick up the can he stops and almost acts excited but doesn't bite. I am not sure if at 8 weeks because they go through a fear stage around that time if it would scare him too much. But we also did the bitter apple thing on our hands...I wish you luck...he will outgrow it as long as your consistant and don't let him get away with it Christa

| Oh yeah..8 weeks is nothing....Elphaba is still biting at almost 9 months. That said, she got past the hard biting...its more "mouthing" if it makes sense? But she's so tiny...the teeth are sharp..and if she catchs me off guard then it hurts. |

| Only 8 wks My dear, you've got a ways to go... You have to remain consistant and its a habbit that he's not going to learn to break over night. You have to keep telling him NO firmly (keep in mind he's still a baby)... I also, use to make a fist, rather than let my pup bite on my fingers. Its a lil harder to bite a fist rather than a finger, ya know and she would eventually stop. It is a form of play for them right now. So, with Meka... I use to let her do it, until it started to hurt... Then, I would tell her "OUCH" and she would soften her bite... It whatever works for you
