Default Teacups !

I know there is no such thing as a Teacup Yorkie and most on here do too. That being said has anyone noticed that now it seems to widely accepted. Everywhere I have go you always hear teacup this and that! I have even had people ask me if Diesel is a teacup. My answer is always the same. Ummm No, He is just a small Yorkie. There is no such thing as a Teacup Yorkie it is simply just a small Yorkie. Do you ever get tired of telling people this when you know they don't listen? Why should they when SOOOO many breeders out there are advertising Teacups! I just really gets me when I hear this. Oh well. Just a little vent this A.M.

I am so with you on the annoyance. Whenever I take Zoey out that is the first thing out of people's mouths. The most disgusting part is that some breeders are now down to using teaspoon as a term.

Even though I have zoey I love to see pictures so when things are quiet at work I tend to hit the web. I have seen a number of sites selling pups that are t-spoons for big money.

Linda at Fufufashions.com can make them up fast. She does great work and is pretty nicely priced in my estimation.

i get pretty much the same comments...
"are you sure she's full yorkie??" or "is she a silky??" or the one you guys already mentioned "i want a yorkie, but i want a teacup" it REALLY gets to me... i almost went off on my boyfriend's friend's wife... but i just bit my tounge and told her that there is no such thing as a teacup adn that the smaller doggies are prone to more diseases, etc... same thing yesterday with the aunt of a girl i was babysitting...i told her about puppy mills, added diseases, inbreeding, and i think she was willing to do a lot more research, so that made me happy... usually i just get a look, like i'm the one who is wrong and i have no clue what i'm talking about... i try to close with "there's a forum called yorkietalk, and you can find more info on there"

Jeter is so tiny, he is 5 months old and he is just hitting 2 pounds! People alway's ask me if he is a teacup when I have him out I try to let people know the truth about "teacup" puppies. I understand that it might be a term that one describes the smaller ones, but you should not have to pay more for the smaller "teacup" Yorkies, they might grow into a "teapot" adult, you never know!

I was at my sister in law's church for order pickup this past Saturday, and had Jeter with me and she asked if she could go show him off in his carrier, the women were going nuts over how tiny he is and they asked me "What kind of dog is he? How old is he " I said he was a Yorkshire Terrier and that he was 5 months old and the one lady went "OH is he the teacup kind? I alway's wanted one!" I told them that their is no such thing as a "tea cup" anything puppy! That it is a term that breeders might use to describe the smaller pups. That all Yorkies are in the TOY breed group. Standers size is 4 to 7, you can get smaller or bigger than that but they are all toy breed and are just simply a Yorkie. She was thankful for my knowledge because she was searching for a puppy and was going to pay $3,500 for a "teacup" the breeder was insisting that he would only get to be 2 pounds if that! I told her about Yorkie Talk so that she could come check it out and get information. I also gave her a card of my breeder that I alway's keep in my purse because I alway's get asked were did I buy him from. She also asked if she could take his picture with her phone so she could send it to her husband. Jeter thinks he is all it with all the attention he stirs up when we go out She was so thankful that I was able to put her in the right path and not get taken in by the Teacup label!

One down, so so many more to go!!

I don't feel like I have to educate people when they ask me if Matty is a "teacup". I just say "she's small but there's no such thing as a teacup". Often they will argue with me and I just let it go. I guess I'm just not that bothered by the term "teacup" when it is used interchangeably with "small" by a person who is NOT a breeder. When a breeder uses it to produce tiny, more expensive puppies on purpose, that's another story.

It only bothers me when I see the breeders using it as a selling tool.
