| How old do you start?? I'm new to the whole yorkie scene... At what age do you start taking your babies to be groomed?? Do you take them to a pro... or do it yourself?? I've done a little trimming, but was just wondering what was in store for me.. |

| You'll have to wait until your puppy's shots are completely finished. That's usually around 16 weeks, I believe. In my opinion, the earlier the better. That way, they get used to it while they're young. A lot of people here do it themselves, and a lot of people get theirs done professionally. It's just a matter of preference. I know I would do a horrible job, so we take Franklin in to get his done professionally. Here's a link to a video tutorial Marcerella02 did... they're really good! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=117723

| First off,, Welcome to YT!! and you have a cutie there!!! 3 girls here,, Cricket (my oldest) was over a year before i took her in for her first grooming,, and she did great! I just couldnt stand leaving her there so long! and she really doesnt need much done very often,, then we added Daisy,, and she needed grooming after a few months,, so i began taking them both in together,, and that went well,, until our groomer moved somewhere else and i dont like where,, and cant find another groomer situation i'm happy with,, Sooooooo,, I'm learning to do it myself! and doing rather well,, thanks to the videos mentioned in the prior post!! its all a matter of choice,, and of course the dogs needs! Best of Luck!

| Guess that leads me to another question.... or more.... In your experience, how often do your babies need to be groomed?? Do you prefer to keep your babies long or cut short?? Sorry.... I have a feeling this is just the start of my LONG list of questions |

| Franklin's only been in once so I'm not quite sure how often I'll have to bring him in. I'm guessing ever 4-6 weeks is what we'll do. He still has his puppy coat so I don't know what his adult coat will be like. Whether or not I keep is short or long will depend on that, but I really don't have the time for the upkeep of a long coat so I'll probably keep it fairly short... maybe a medium length.
