| Should I be concerned? I went to my unfinished basement and took Sami down there with me, which I never do. While I was looking through some totes, she found a dead mouse. I don't know how long she was chewing on it (probably no more then 5 minutes). The reason the mouse is dead is because of mice bait. Do you think she could have injested the poison? |

| I would be concerned, but it depends on how long the mouse has been dead.

| I would certainly call your vet and ask them for their advice. I don't know how long it takes for poison to evaporate or decinigrate...if it ever does...so I think you need to call your vet and ask them. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh, boy. I would def. call the vet and/or poison control (for pets) - it'd be worth getting an expert's answer, bc it does involve poison.

| well i am kind of a super worrisome mommy and i would be very concerned especially since you are not sure how long it was dead before your baby started nibbling on it...i would definitely call the vet ASAP and see what they say! good luck and please keep us posted on how she is!

| This is an emergency because rat bait uses a blood thinner.

| I try to err on the side of caution...I would call poison control (which is free) and your vet as well. Chances are that if it WAS b/c of mouse bait, your little one didn't injest enough to do any harm. (They actually have to eat alot more than you think for it to be harmful.) But really, not a chance worth taking, IMO. I'd call to be safe. |

| update The vet gave Sami a vitamin K injection. Within, 5 minutes she had an allergic reaction to the Vitamin K. Her heartrate went to 200bpm, temp went up to 103 degrees, she swelled up, and she broke out with pink spots. They gave her benadryl and she is now fine. They gave me a prescription for Vitamin K and they want me to give it even though she had a reaction to it. I searched the internet and a website said to give benadryl before giving the vitamin k, so thats what I am going to do. She is acting normal now and she ate some food. Please continue to keep her in your prayers. |
