I'm on pins and needles I dropped Tucker off a little while ago for his neuter. I didn't think it would bother me this much. I even had a hard time sleeping last night. It's really hard to think that that they will be using anesthesia on him. He's barely three pounds. I guess everyone goes through worry at this time. I'm having all his blood work done, so that helps to ease my mind a little.

Aw, little Tucker will be fine. I just went through this with my little Chihuahua, who is 3.9 pounds. She got through her spay just fine. It isn't quite as hard on boys as it is on girls. Tucker will be back home in no time. Give him a huggie for us. | |

Do you know what I should expect when he gets home? I'm planning on talking to the vet tech when I pick him up, but it would be nice to hear from someone who has been through it.

Tucke5r Kozanna had dissolvable stitches, so she didn't have to go back to have stitches removed. She had pain med for four days. She was spayed early afternoon and they said she ate her supper. She stayed over night and I picker her up the next morning. The vet said to let her do anything she felt like doing, but not wild romping or something that, of course. Kozanna is a puppy mill rescue and pretty quiet. I took her home and she played with her toys like nothing had happened, ate a little, and took a nap. She never even looked at the incision. If she had, I was prepared to put a onesie on her to keep her from bothring it. Since Tucker is a boy and all the surgery is on the outside, I think he'll bounce right back with no problem. Ask about pain meds, but they may think that he doesn't need it. These little ones are surprisingly tough! Good luck.

I just got Tucker from the vet. Thay said he did really well and his blood work checked out fine. He's just taking it easy for now. We're going to snuggle on the couch for the rest of the day I'm so glad to have him home. I hated that he had to go into surgery and wake up without anything familiar around. Whew! I'm glad it's over.

I'm actually not %100 sure. But Tucker's breeder, the vet and all the YT members told me to do it, so I figured it was important and it only cost $40.00 extra. I know that when I went to pick him up, one of the vet techs was speaking to a man about his dog that had been spayed and I overheard her saying that his blood work results showed some type of blood component and they knew to give her extra fluids during her surgery. All I know is that blood work somehow helps to keep them safer during the whole process. Maybe myfairlacy will see this. She's very knowledgable about these things.
