| i think it is great! I know that chances are not good of someone honestly coming up to you if your dog goes missing or is stolen and saying they have found your dog but at least if you see it and say.. hey that's my dog.. you have this chip to prove it.. also it's great if they get found by a vet... even if their machine can't read the brnad you have.. it will recognize that one is implanted. i think it is definitly worth the money and peace of mind |

| My girls are chipped!!! I think its a wonderful invention!! our vet office has found and returned several who came in and were chipped,, some found dogs,, brought in to be scanned,, others,, brought in by "wrongful" owners,, scanned and found not to belong to them,, returned to the rightful owners!!

| Thank you so much for the comments, but at what age would you recommend doing it? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | You can have the chipping done at any age. I think when you put your baby in for their neuter/spay it's a good time to have it done while they are under. That is what I will do when Zoey goes in for her spay in a month or so. They say no anesthesia is necessary when given but personally I saw the needle and I would need anesthesia if it were me...ick. Definitely a good thing and it will be just another piece of identification to keep them safe and be able to get them returned if they are lost.

| I got Riley micro chipped while he was getting neutered. I've read that it can sometimes be painful for them if they are awake. |

| I got Madeleine chipped when she got spayed, which was 6 months old. I'm really glad I did it, just in case.

| It's not that painful for them. Not any worse than a shot. I always hold my puppies for the vet when she does it. Actually, I don't even have to hold them. Just scratch their heads and they don't even act like they notice it. Every one of my dogs is microchipped and every puppy is before they leave. Not something I will leave up to the new owners.

| Do you guys know if they go under the skin or into the muscle? Another yt member said into a muscle so they don't move, but I thought it was under the skin.
