| getting a puppie akc registered Is it true that I can register my puppy that is not registered? How do I go about doing this? Is it true that all I will need is a dna from a vet to prove that he is a full bread yorkshire? Thank you for your time and consideration!!! Ronda |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | If the sire and dam were not registered with AKC, no you will not be able to register your puppy. There are other registries out there that would allow you to register him.

| There is no DNA test to determine the specific breed of a dog. There are some in the works, but still very new and experimental. In any case, you cannot register a dog w/ ACK unless it came from 2 AKC registered parents and you have registration paperwork from the breeder stating such. What's the point now anyway? You can love and spoil that baby papers or no papers! |

I only got him to love him, and boy do we ever. He is the sweetest little guy EVER!!!!! I bought him with no papers. I am sure his parents are not registered. I dont know a thing about breeding and would not do it without much more knowledge. I am just trying to learn all that i can at this stage. I have always wanted a yorkshire just because they are the cutest little ones I have ever seen. I thought I could never afford them. I have been blessed to have two now and all my dreams have come true!!!! Thank you so very much for your response. Much appreiciation to you. Ronda | |

| I would suggest that since you have no genetic background on your boy (very important to have when breeding) you continue to love and spoil him like the pet he was meant to be. It's generally frowned upon to register a dog with any registry if you have no background info on his line just for the sake of having papers and breeding them. It's a tactic normally associated with greedy, unethical puppy millers. That being said, congrats on being blessed with your two little angels. I am sure that they have brough alot of joy to your home. |
