| Cottony coat? I look at my puppy's parents and they both have beautiful silky hair. But koda (6 months old) has cottony hair that tangles if you simply pet him. I use shampoo and conditioner on him but nothing helps. he is bathed every 2 weeks. is this a puppy thing or is there something wrong with his coat? |

| I have one like this too! She is over a year now though so I doubt it is just a "puppy thing" in her case When she is first bathed and brushed her hair looks so shiney and pretty and by the next day, she is starting to tangle and looks dull ?? I have had to shave her once already and I'm considering to always keep her in a short cut...I have no other suggestions though! I've tried cowboy magic on her too but that doesn't seem to help...

| Gypsy has the cotton coat and I keep it short. On the other hand, my dtr's Gremlin has the silky coat. I wish Gypsy had the silky coat but would not trade her for the world. The cotton coat takes a lot of work to keep long.

Same here. I've tried everything even flaxseed oil in food with my girl Bebe. I also find that keeping her short is alot easier. I can see a big difference in her coat and one of her pups who is 7 mos old. The pups coat is beautiful already soft, very long and shiny I can't wait for her coat to be to the floor. When Bebe was 7 mos old her coat didn't even hardly grow and it's always been dull and tangly.

| Same here with me. Tucker's parents both had silky coats, but at 6 mo. his seems like its cottony. I keep wondering if his is puppy still, or if this will be his coat. His Grandpa had a cottony coat, so it's possible. |

| Buddy's got a cotton coat, i find it better to wash him in good quality human shampoo and conditioner, his coat stays really soft that way, just make sure you brush everyday and you won't have to keep him cropped off short.

| I have 3 cotton coat and 3 silky, The cotton is so much harder to take care of, I keep them short to avoid the matts, i find that clothes really add to the problem to, But its so cold here now that im always afraid they are cold, I dont use sweaters unless they are outside, I let them wear tanks in the house, combing them every day also helps
