| AKC Registration? Do most of you register your dogs with the AKC? I just received the application along with Brutus' pedigree from the breeder and I must say I'm pretty impressed. It doesn't matter much to me since I'd love him no matter what but every dog on the pedigree is an American or Canadian champion. I'm just wondering what the purpose of registering is. My husband said we might as well just go ahead and do it. So what do you think of the name "The Grand Duke of Windsor"? The model of our house is called the Buckingham Grand Windsor so we thought we'd incorporate that into his official name. I don't think you'd see to many Brutus' registered!

| I dont think that you really have to use the name that you call them in the offical AKC records. My rottweiler is officially, Zonia VH Falconsnest and she goes by Skuly. I think it is a fairly common practice. |

| GREAT name. Many of the dogs you see in shows have a totally different registered name that what they actually call them. Some have the name in the registered name. It's personal preference. AKC and CKC (Canadian) are both GREAT registries. That's what the majority have. Baxter is AKC, but Chloe is CKC (Continental). I was VERY sceptical of this at first, but let me tell you, Chloe is better than Baxter (I HATE to say that because Baxter is my baby-the oldest baby anyway). She's quicker at learning things she's not as shy. It honestly all depends on the breeder. I would ALWAYS choose breeder over a registry.

| Both of mine are AKC. I never reg'd Tino and when I receive Bunny's papers after she's spayed, I don't think I'll register her either. Since both will be fixed, then I don't see the point.

| In registering a dog , you can use different name than the call name . Ex : Sandrine is Talaio Jueves Midnight Blue There is no Sandrine in the registered name. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | sounds like a great name! I've always registered mine. In case you ever decide to breed, this will come in handy. Or, for showing, you must register the dog.

| Chloe is CKC and Lacey is AKC. If you aren't showing or breeding it probably doesn't matter but I registered anyway. I've had the same experience re CKC. My Chloe is a very bright, beautiful and obedient dog, much smarter than Lacey, who has the championship bloodline. Lacey is more the expected yorkie look ie, compact, straight back, short legs, cute face, blue/tan coloring, under 4 lbs and rules the roost, so to speak. Chloe is 7 lbs, light coloring, "rolled" back, etc. I used to say Lacey was cute but dumb but now she goes into her kennel when I say night night, so now I'm removing the dumb part. |
