| How can I get Ms. Izzie to.. Okay guys, I have had Isabella for a little over 2 wks now and I've tried to brush her several times. But all she wants to do is Bite the brush, wiggle and try to escape. How can I get her to like brushing? And as for her bath I have to hold her while washing because she tries to jump out the sink... What can I do ???

| Well i have heard and seen this, the pull on the lower lip or the hair to hold still. Not that hard but you get the idea. I seen petco do this last night while grooming a yorkie. It was cute she would raise her front paw.

| Always using us humans for the treats... They are not stupid when it comes to treats. I just gave my gang and its so funny I have to separate them or the dogs will eat the cats treats... Dumb cats they take so long to eat them...U think they would have learn by now. The Ziggy Monster is on the loose and he likes collars

| I HAVE LITTLE DOGGIE TREATS I GIVE TUCKER WHEN HE IS GOOD AND WHEN HE PEES ON THE PEE PAD AND WHEN HE DOES HIS TRICKS. SO WHEN I BRUSH HIM I DO THE SAME. IF I DONT GIVE HIM TREATS HE ATTACKS THE BRUSH. ITS PRETTY FUNNY TO WATCH. THEN AFTER I BRUSH HIM HE SHAKES AND LOOKS LIKE A BIG FLUFF BALL...

| When Chewy was a puppy grooming was very hard... he would bite, snarl, and move around like his life depended on getting away. I groomed him every single day. I would brush him talking calmly untill he stopped fighting. I would never stop while he was fighting me cause I didn't want him to think he was winning! He is so easy to groom now. No more biting or wiggling around. (Including teeth brushing) The only thing I don't do is clip the nails. I pay for that to be done. Groom often and be calm. Make it a matter of fact type thing. it took a few months for it to be EASY to groom him. But the hard work and time it took paid off.

| ive had my puppy for 2 weeks now as well. first few days my pebbles didnt like to sit still for brushing... then i read you should give them lots of praise and repeat a saying like.. lets make you pretty or lets brush your hair so they know it is "time." also make a nice sound to your voice like oh you are so good!! then they associate it with being good etc and if you give treats the better! she is so good during brushing now.. she will evne let me do her tummy! she stays so still. also it helps to start on a high surface so they are kinda scared to move and stay still good luck! |
