| Not to sure what to do with our larger dog. The place we live in is establishing a Homeowners Association in May. They will not let anyone have any dog bigger than twenty pounds. Sal is fine since he is a Yorkie mixed But Sherlock is a larger beagle and he will need to go. I want to move but we ar unable to find a buyer. I am not to sure if I should re-home him or what. Since he is 10 years old and has health problems. I really need some suggestions Thank you, Cathi |

| Won't he be grandfathered in? At that age, it would be hard on him to get rehomed. I would talk to the association and see if this rule will be for existing people or just for new members. Maybe there can be some sort of fee to pay if you can keep him? I wish you luck with this. It seems so unfair to have to get rid of a existing member of the family just because they need to make new rules. |

| I think that is a ridiculous rule! Homeowner's associations have their place, but this rule is just taking it too far! Could you start a petition that would exclude those of you who already have dogs over 40 pounds? |

| I agree that I would think he would be grandfathered. I would do whatever I could to NOT get rid of him... pay a fee, get a lawyer, move, etc.

| I don't think anyone should be able to tell you how many dogs you can own or what size, that's b.s. and yes, I feel you could fight that one too...There are a lot of home owners associations here, and none of them tell you how big of a dog you can own..?? |

| We moved here before this all started Lasted March several home owners that rent out their homes complained that they were losing renter because ther were was not a community pool. So many of them together signatures about a homeonwers association. We refused to sign. So,we put the house on market in May of last year. So that we did not need to be bother with an homeonwers association, We have had no luck in selling it. One of the neighbor has retained a lawyer since they have a very large dog. I spoke to her yesterday and she said that they have not heard from the upcoming association and that they wish to sell too. We will have to do something soon, if not, we will be forced out. |

| By law (anywhere) you cannot be evicted "after" a new rule is made. Your safe, and don't let anyone try to get you out. They can however refuse to let you renew your lease when it's expired if you don't sign the new one, so you may want to start looking for another place that allows dogs so you can move when your lease is up. |

| I was in property management for almost 10 years and our policy was, we accepted dogs 20lbs or under. Personally I really didn't care what size dog people had, since I'm a huge dog lover, though I do think really large dogs need more space than an apartment offers. Anyway, I can tell you that time after time courts really weren't sympathetic to enforcing such a policy. I mean if a dog isn't doing any damage or bothering anyone, what difference does it make! Courts are really pretty busy to deal with lawsuits like this! Just my experience anyway! Besides, if you own your home, how are they going to force you out? Even if they put a lien on your property, they would have to prove real damages!

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | There should be a loophole that will allow the dogs since they were there pre-homeowners association. Speak to them about it. They can't make you get rid of them. Now they can say that after the formation you can't get them. Quite frankly I think that whole rule to be a big hot steaming pile of dog poo. I own the property and I pay my mortgage, fees and taxes.
