| Too hot to go outside! How can my dogs get some exercise in the house? It's too stinking hot outside! Yesterday was 107! When I tell them to go out to potty, they lay down and look at me, like hell no! One of mine is getting a little chubby, So I'd like some ideas of how we can get more exercise in the house, other than fetch. What do you all do? |

| I literally have to kick their butts out to pee. They really don't want to go. They are all in their full coat. Maybe it's time for a shave... |

| It's been like 105 here for the past week or so. When Gus is just laying around and not wanting to play I give him nutical,, make him drink water and either I put him in the pool for a quick dip or I wet the bottom part of his body in the kitchen sink. Yesterday we went to check the mail and the ground was just too hot he woiuldnt stand in one place, when I seen him marchig in place as if he was sayin,,, (OH too hot too hot ouch too hot) I picked him up and carried him back into the house.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | It is very hot here as well and we have to make the girls go outside at times...but we are very careful on the pavement because they can burn their paws on the hot ground, so we make sure they stay in the grass while it is so hot...we also take them swimming on really hot days, that way they stay a little cooler, if you don't have a pool, you can buy a baby pool, our like that too...that way they are getting exercise and staying cool... Another thing is we take the girls for a walk in the evening when it cools off a little, it is still hot, but not like the middle of the day...

| It's hot and humid here too. I play "can you catch me" and literally run from them, they love that. I play fetch for sliced apple, I put ice cubes on the tile floor for them to chase, we play tug of war except I run through the house with the rope. We play hide and seek with the grandkids too. I also have cut down on their food with less dry and more veggies. |

Sully gets a toy in his mouth and I reach out my arms and say "I'm gonna get choo" and creep up on him....he knows that means it's time to play, haha! Just like I would with my 2yr old cousins! Actually, we play this game regardless of the weather....Sully loves it so much!

| Texas is also one of the hell holes of the world. Maggie knows she gets to play outside early in the morning and late in the afternoon. It's about the only time of day that a living thing can tolerate. Late in the afternoon, is also her swim time. This is when she runs and plays with our big dogs. During the day, she mostly just chills out, except for a few PP breaks. She has become so use to this schedule, you can almost set your watch in the afternoon when it's time to go play. Each play session, is about an hour long, which is plenty for her.

| My dogs don't like to go out in the heat either. We walk them in the evening time and take water for them.

| It's benn really hot here so what I do is at night I use hubbys spot lights and turn them on so my yard is all lighted up and let them play. They chase each other and then I throw little treats far enough that they race to get them. My neighbors probably think I'm nuts because I usually do this at 11 pm or midnight all the time. Right now we have Hurricane Emily coming our way so it has been raining so we just throw treats inside. Make sure they are low fat treats or you will have porkys in your house lol. Smiles, Myra |
