| Hello Everyone Just found this sight on yorkies. I have a had mine since Oct. 2003. He was actually born the day I had back surgery so it easy to remember his birthday. His name is Buddy and I love him. He is so smart. He seems to know everything I tell him when I talk to him. He hates a bath. He doesn't seem to have a problem with splashing around the pool area but he doesn't like any other kind of water. I have a hard time when it comes time to take a bath. You can't mention the word because he will run behind the couch where I can't reach him. Also I put this smock on and if he sees it he will hide or if he sees the towels to dry him off with. He is funny to watch when his ears perk up and he knows what is going to happen by just talking about bathtime. Not so funny when I have to chase him down. You have probably talked about this before but this last year I have had a real time in him smelling bad not long after his bath. I have been trying whatever I can find but it doesn't seem to help. He constantly licks himself like a cat. Any one have suggestions on what I can do or try. Speaking about cats he lays on the back of my couch just like a cat would do. Glad I found this sight |

| Hi and welcome, sorry I am not much help but there are lots of people here that can hopefully give you some guidance. My yorkie hates to be bathed too, we have to lift up the couch while the other picks her out so you are not alone there. Hope to see pics of your furbaby too.

| Hi welcome to YT! You have found a place filled with knowledgeable, caring, fun yorkie owners. My Bubba loves to lay on the back of the couch too I would take Buddy to the vet & have his skin checked if he is licking like that - although I know sometimes licking is some type of OCD behavior that can occur in pets - my Bubba has licked upholstery before. Also, I'm wondering if the horrid bath fear & the licking are related - I'm wondering what you are using for shampoo to bathe him. Perhaps it irritates his skin

| Thanks!! for your warm welcome to YT I went to the store today and bought some shampoo with oatmeal in it. I am going to try it. A few suggested it in other threads. I have tried different shampoos already. I also found a spray called Perfect Scents I am going to try. You can also pour it into a special brush and brush it on their coat. We will see if it will help |
