| Dog collectors I have to vent here,I am currently trying to rehome a German Shepherd and a dalmation. The shepherd belongs to my neighbor, she and 8 others!! The woman collected puppies like some people collect antiques. I feel so bad for this one GSD, she is a walking vet bill!! Why do people do this? She bought a new puppy every time one would hit about 4 months old. I know she is disturbed but I am having a really hard time feeling sorry for her. I have had one family turn the GSD down due to cost of the vet bills. The dal HAS to go to a rescue because he has some aggression issues. But the mutts are going to be next to impossible and she wants to keep the yorkie, chi, jack russel and 2 pitbulls! She took these dogs and left town, leaving all of these other dogs with her 18 yr old daughter that doesn't want them. This is so sad, I would take the GSD if I could but I have enough to pay attention to and she is going to be high maintenance for awhile. She is a sweet sweet dog and has so much potential. I am located in Va if anyone knows someone who may want her. She does have AKC papers. I will travel to meet any responsible pet owner within reason. |

| I am not in VA and I am unable to have a big dog and/or one that sheds (apartment and allergies)...if you find someone and they can't take the dog because of vet bills, maybe we can figure out a little to help ease te burden? I would donate some money to help so if you find someone PM me and let me know what vet to send some money too!!

DivaPup: I feel so bad for those dogs too - THere are so many people that actually DO collect dogs and cats and the sad thing is it's usually more than they can ever pay attention to or care for - this is a good example - I commend you for helping with this situation ...it's sad and probably so frustrating for you - but with people like YOU helping - they stand a good chance of getting into a good home - I hope she realizes what a good friend you really are. | |

| Thank you Villette..but I was always taught if we can help someone in need we should because you never know when you will be in need and maybe someone who can help will remember and anyways...my bf always says we never have money because I find somethign to spend it on...and why not a good cause..I just got a little raise (30 buck extra week) so it hasn't clicked yet that I have a little extra money and when it does I will probably go spend it so like this I know it is going somewhere good and of course to Maximus

Donating YT 14K Club Member | That is sad. You read stories about these people all of the time. It's an addiction for them. If I'm not mistaken, the law or SPCA has to step in. They can remove all of the animals if they are not being taken care of correctly.

| I would love to take her but i already have 2 dogs and with the 4 kids, it would be tough. I would be willing to send some money to help with some vet bills though. Just let me know. Have you tried the shepherd rescue by any chance? |

| I have seen a few cases of this in the mental health clinic I worked at. One in particular, you wouldn't believe the smell she carried around with her and you wouldn't believe her profession! It's called animal hoarding (I don't think that's spelled right), if I can remember correctly. They truly think they are helping these animals. |

| Thanks ya'll. I have another woman coming next week but I think she is going to be mostly an outdoor dog there. She is aware of the vet bills which is good but I was hoping to find a indoor home for her because of her allergies. I am not sure if it is flea or contact but there is no way to tell as long as she is in a flea environment. I did bathe her and frontline her not long ago but she was still itchy from the fleas in the house biting her. We will see what happens, luzangela that was SOOO sweet of you to offer but before the rest of her problems can be addressed she has to be removed from the home. I have checked into a rescue but I would love for her to go to a forever home if I can get her to one. Thanks guys, dawn P.S. The laws in Va are not such that they will remove dogs from this situation and I would hate to get the kid in trouble, it isn't her fault the mom is a whacko. I will do what I can and I did find a no kill shelter for the mutts P.P.S. Chloeandj, I think that is what it is called!! |
