| Do you think that it's worth it... Hi everyone - I just wanted to ask everyone out there if they think that getting my little guy microchipped would be worth it? To me, any price is worth it if my dog may one day be returned to me if he ever got lost. But my cheap ass bf thinks that it's a waste of money because he said that if anyone ever did find a dog like a yorkie, that they wouldn't return it anyway. That they would either keep it for themselves or try and sell it to make some cash. I know that he does have a bit of a point because there are people out there like that. But for a measly $100, I am willing to take that chance and spend the money in hopes that he will be returned to me, if (god forbid) that ever happens. Anyone else's significant other this cheap??? I am so mad at him right now.

| Eveen if they didn't want to return him...I think the chip comes up with your name..and if he was lost you could report it, so if/when the people that found him took him to the vet you could track him. I am not sure if this is correct...just how I thought it would work??? But here it costs like $50.00 I think so I will be having them do it to Maximus when he gets neutered..and yeah my bf is a scrooge too!!! BTW...the first day Maximus went to his checkup he ran the microchip thing over his body to see if he was microchipped and said he does it for every dog if it is their first time at his practise!!

| Wow, a $100 sounds steep. Is that what it costs there? I don't think it's anywhere near that price around here but I'm not sure because I haven't had Tatum done yet. But of course it would be worth it to know that you went that extra step to make sure your baby found it's way home in the dreadful event it got lost. You just have to count on someone honest enough to do the right thing and get her to a vet to check the chip.

| In my opinion it is worth it but like you say those cheap ***. my husband says they don't need it because all we need is a tag giving the address. I tell him no one would bring Buckeye back even if they knew where he belonged. Ahia I am sure they would return after a day with them. LOL. any suggestions how to accomplish it let me know

| I decided against it. Its only $35 here. Have you checked other vets for prices?

| You should shop around at other vets. Its as low as $15 and as high as $40 here. I think its worth it, though Stewie doens't have one yet.

| I live in Minnesota and I took Remy to Petsmarts vet in the store -Banfield I think the name is and I paid $29.99 to have him chipped. I agree you should shop around. Maybe you can check a shelter to see if they do it?

| I decided against it aswell, in UK we had a problem with people trying to cut the chip out themselves if they had stolen the dog Then it turns out that a vet cant legally give the adress of the person with your dog if they take it to a vet, you just get notified that yr dog has been found but you end up not knowing where crazy

| I think I might get Piper microchipped just in the off chance that we get separated (I'd lose my mind) he MIGHT be returned to me easier. Here if you have them micro-chipped you also pay a one-time fee for dog licensing and then you never have to worry about purchasing the dog license ever again. Sounds like a good idea to me!!

| I think it's worth it. I'm probably gonna have it done to Rika at some point though I couldn't give you an estimate on what it costs here.

| My Yorkie Coty has been missing since May 13th. I had initially decided not to microchip him and my other dog Tyson because I thought if they got loose the person that had him wouldn't necessarily take him to the vet to "find" the owner. As heartbroken as I am, I can't say that I would in fact have my pets chipped today because the person that picked my pet up still hasn't returned him despite flyers everywhere and a $1,000 reward, so the fact that he might have been microchipped probably wouldn't play a factor in this evil person's thought process. I do applaud the vet that scans any new patients to see if they are microchipped! After this incident with my dog, you can best believe that I am working on how to remedy the problem of reuniting lost pets with their owners.
