| My yorkie doesn't like my new baby Hi. I just had a baby and he is now 4 months old. I thought by now, my yorkie would have adjusted, but she doesn't seen to. I've gotten her to lick my son's hand and give him a shake, but that's about it. Any other time we get near her... she growls a little to let us know we are in her territory. If we don't move, she gets up and finds another spot. What can I do to make her like our new baby? |

| How old is your Yorkie? If she's a little older, she's probably set in her ways and may never really warm up to the baby. You can't force her to like him. Hopefully in time she'll learn to accept the baby, but be very, very careful about leaving them unsupervised. Little hands grab hair and ears and hurt. Babies on the move disturb sleeping dogs. You don't want to put her in a position of feeling like she has to defend herself or her territory. |

| She's 7.5 years old. She's a very good dog. She doesn't mess with any of his stuff... she's know the difference between his toys and hers. I've gotten them to play tug-of-war together a few times... but it doesn't last long... because as soon as she gets the toy away from him, she doesn't bring it back. My son hasn't hurt her in any way, yet. I am worried when he becomes mobile, so I was trying to get my yorkie used to him now. My son is very interested in my yorkie and is always watching her and what she is doing. |

| Many Yorkies do not like children so please be very careful when the two of them are together and I would not force anything at this time.

| AS long as she is not hurting your son I think there's time to have her warm up. Becareful but don't worry too much. I think as your son grows up she will like him better... She may be a little scared of him. Just watch he doesn't hurt her and she doesn't hurt him. They may just coexist for now. See what happens as your son grows...They could be best buddies in a year or so!
