| HELP!! Have I been scammed?? I have a problem. I purchased a female yorkie December 12 under contract. The contract stated that I had 48 hours to have her checked by a vet and that she came with a limited AKC registration (NO breeding or showing rights). Well the vet said she was in great health, but at the time I purchased her the AKC papers were not ready?? The lady I got her from said she was not the puppies breeder, but that she had received the puppy as pick of the litter for payoff for a stud service. The day I bought her the lady told me she was in contact with her breeder and that she would mail me the form for her AKC registration in a few days. Well that was 2 months ago. I have emailed the lady a billion times...at first she said she could not get in touch with the breeder. About a month ago she said she finally talked the the breeder and they had sent the litter registration in to the AKC. Don't most people do this as soon as the litter is born?? What do I do? I want my babies papers! I think four months is ample time to register a litter!

| Yep...sounds like you are being given the run around. Sadly, this happens quite often. You have to be SOOOOOO careful regarding paperwork. A hard lesson learned by many that you should never trust the ole "I dont' have them yet but I'll get them to you" routine. |

| Some breeders send in the litter registration right away and some don't. It is possible they sent the litter registration in and then found out AKC needed a DNA test done on the male if he had sired more than 3 litters in one year or 5 lifetime. The person you bought the puppy from should have kept you better informed. I know some people that sell with limited registration do not provide the papers until proof is provided that the dog has been neutered. I hope you get it resolved. |

| Yes, that's my baby! Thanks for the compliment. I broke down last night and bought a CC brush and comb! I also purchased Pest Silk for her. I can not wait to see the results!

| When I got my last puppy, she was 11 weeks and the papers were sent with her, but, since I'm not showing or breeding, I just throw the papers in the drawer..I'm not crazy about AKC, and so, i don't give them the money just for mine to have their AKC papers.. |

| All of my dogs are registered. Not for the fact of having papers but for the support of the AKC.

| I support AKC also, just wish they'd be more helpful in these scamming cases..

| I hope you get your papers soon. I usually send my puppy litter registration papers in at 4 weeks and love being able to register the litter online.

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I have been through this before. I was promised papers but the lady kept putting me off. I finally got all the paperwork to file in small claims court, let her know what my plans were and she called me the next day with papers in hand.

you dealt with a broker (a middle man) which is why it's always good to check things out VERY carefully before you put down money on a puppy. Buying from a broker is something most of us advise AGAINST. Good luck getting your papers. | |
