| New with some questions??? Hello I am Jessica & I adopted Brinkley 2 weeks ago from a rescue who rescued him from a puppy mill. He is now 14 weeks. I just love him to death. I have been reading a lot on different things for taking care of him from grooming to potty training. Potty training is actually going pretty good considering we live in NY & it is COLD right now & he shivers when we go out. I do have a question about grooming...how often do you bathe your yorkie in between grooming visits? Also I have read that people feed their yorkies plain yogurt to help with the eye goobies....is there anyone that does this? And does it work? And is it OK for them to have? Is there anyone who has a male yorkie that puts bows in his hair...I would like to put a blue bow in his hair but my husband has a problem with it. I think it's ok...any thoughts on this? Thanx for listening & any answers you have to help me out with my new little boy! |

| I home cook, so yes, yogurt is good for them. Real food is the best way to go. My girls get bathed once a week. I use #1 All Systems concentrate shampoo, so I'm able to dilute it way down. I also make up my own conditioner since just the regular pet conditioners alone just doesn't work very well on one of my dogs. She has an extremely thick coat. My friends who have male Yorkies and the ones who have male Maltese all put the plain bows in their boys hair. It's just adorable. Bows aren't needed if your going to keep his hair short. Also buy him some nice warm sweaters and jackets. |

| Welcome! I have a little girl 15 wks old. It is cold and snowy here right now, to cold to take her out yet - I tried and she just shivers violently. I did make her a little sweater out of a sock, helps a little. I have never heard of yogurt helping with they eye gunk I have a boy, but due to his coat I keep his hair cut short, no bows. Makes him look like a puppy. Anyway, hello. Congrats on the puppy.

| Welcome to YT! So glad to hear you were able to give your boy the good home he deserves. I don't see a problem with putting a bow in a boy's hair...I mean, they have to be able to see, right? I have some that have footballs on them, but our boys stay cut shorter for the most part and sometimes wear a bandana. I bathe ours every week. |

| Welcome and Congratulations!! I think boy bows are cute (there are many MANLY patterns). Coby is actually always in a puppy cut, because he is a maniac and would be one big walking tangle if he had long hair and because I really love the puppy cut - the eternal puppy look!

| Welcome to YT and congrats on your rescue baby! I bathe my yorkie once a week and comb her twice a day. If I had a boy, I would put bows in his hair. There are some really cute "manly" bows out there. If your husband really doesn't like bows, you can always just keep the topknot up in a rubberband. I suggest getting some bows that have themes that your husband would like just to get him used to the idea...like his fav. football team, Nascar, or whatever he's in to

| I have a boy, he wears bows,.. I think he looks adorable with a bow. sometimes I put it at the side of his head,, and that looks adorable also.. I bath once a week..sometimes it varies with weather, or what is going on.. but it is pretty much once a week.. I do not take mine to the groomers.. do not trust them... do not want to leave my dogs alone to sit in a cage all day.. Learn to clip his nails now.. while he is young.. he will get use to it and just do it once a week.. enough to take the very tip off and he will learn to trust you with this.. Any help you will need is right here for the asking.. the more you learn how to do things yourself.. the more money you will have to dress your little man..LOL Also congrats on getting a rescue.. and your lucky to have gotten one so young..
