| need sleep help? any advise would be greatly appreciated. Sadie is now four months old and still wakes up every 2-3 hours per night to be let out. She does go to the bathroom every time I let her out, but I don't think she's waking up just for that, I think she wants in our bed, which I'm not about to start letting happen. Any advise on how to get her to stay asleep for at least 6 hours would be greatly appreciated. Our other yorkie Lexus would sleep at least 6-8 hours by the time she was 3 months without getting up - big difference. Thanks. |

| What is puppy doing to let you know that she wants to get up? I put Scrappy in his crate at night when he goes to sleep (anywhere between 9:30-11 depending on the length of his evening nap) and he stays in there and sleeps all night until I get up around 6am. He typically potties once in his little puppy pad in the corner of his crate at some point during the night. I've thought about cutting of his water around 8 or so - but for whatever reason that just feels mean to me. The first night he whined a little in the middle of the night and I just didn't go in there - his crate is in the other room - and he hasn't tried that again since. Good Luck! |

| My sadie is a little over four months to! We put her create on a small table right next to my bed, facing me as I sleep. I take her out at 9:00 or so, and we get up at 6:00 the next morning. She has gotten us up a few times when she was younger but not any more. I think if they are very close to you when you sleep it makes them feel good. She is so close I can reach out and touch her.. almost like she is sleeping with us, only she is still in her create. She has fluffy blankets, and a water bottle hanging for her to drink. I hope this helps.

| We started putting Brody back to bed after he woke up in the middle of the night by laying with him on the bed. Now he just wants to be in the bed . But, he will sleep ALL NIGHT if he's on the bed! |

| I always find it interesting that 4 mo. old babies are expected to not want to piddle in the middle of the night? Quite often I have read on posts that a puppy can make it one hr. for every month old he/she is. I even set an electronic timer to wake me up and put my Yorkie and then my Pommie out every 4hrs., then every 5 hrs. At six month I trusted them all night and they rewarded me by keeping the bed dry. Of course this is all JMHO. Joanne |

My Lil Man! Donating Member | Same here! Reeses sleeps with me and gets up when I get up...unless I sleep late..then he wakes me up squeaking a toy in my face and licking me. Lol. I have pee pee pads down tho in case he needs to potty in the middle of the night. |

| I agree with another post that if they are close to you in their crate, that will feel safer. Also, I've heard that same thing another post said about holding it an hour for every month or so. Since your pup is four months old, he should be able to hold it four hours. If it were me, I would let him whine a little if he is waking you up more often than every four hours. It will probably take around three days for him to get it if you can stand it. HTH! |
