| help my puppy still has Diarrhoea Hi everyone im at my wits end please can you help, As you can see from the picture I have a gorgeous 8wk old male yorkie (Billy)that has been hand reared from 2wks, I have had him for nearly 3weeks now. He has been at the vets 3 times, with a 4th in the morning by the look of it. When I got him he was being fed on Heinz tinned porridge & chicken baby food, The vet said to try him on puppy food straight away, this I did & tried him on a small amount of butchers puppy which he loved but a few hours later loose stools. I tried for 4 days with a little of the old food & the Heinz baby gradually but still not much better, so back to the vets this time they suggested dried food, so tried enkunuba gradually, still same problem back to vets & Billy was given diarsanyl twice a day, & vet suggested chicken & rice, so tried this he seemed to be better but after 5 days tried to introduce enkunba again(just 5 pieces along with rice/chicken) but here we are again. He has loose stools in fact they have never been really solid since I got him. He is really grumpy (as you can imagine) & tries to bite me when I least suspect it. I have had dogs before I currently have a 3 yr old shihtzu as well & have never had this problem before (mind you had Billy’s mum not died I would never have taken a dog this young before) Please can anyone give me advise on what I should feed him & how much. confused: Last edited by mazzakins; 02-04-2008 at 03:17 PM. Donating YT 500 Club Member | I really don't know! Hope someone can give you some good advice. Maybe try a different vet. I would worry he will dehydrate. Hope you get some help soon!

| ask the vet the appropriate doseage of immodium for your baby... just make sure that he drinks water, so he doesnt get constipated. I have had good success with this... the couple of times that it has happened to me ... as long as there is no blood in his stool.... |

| Fix him chicken and rice and dont try to switch him to a dog food untill his stool has been firm for a few days. My vet told me not to give Imodium It is not safefor dogs so I dont know about that. He is obviously very sensitive to food changes. If that doesnt work then I think you need meds from the vet

| Thank you, he is drinking ok & eating fine though he spits out some rice, but perhaps I am overfeeding him, he weighs just under 1 pound now & is 8weeks old. |

| I just posted your original post in the "Sick & Injured" area. I think you might get better responses there. Also, you might want to check out the breeders area. They're really good about info for this young of a pup. Good Luck - hope you can get this taken care of

| I would continue cooking for him and if you do it for more than a week or two, you will need to supplement.
