| international travel with a furbaby there may be a thread with this information, but the search brings up too many irrelevant results... my fiancé and i visited Costa Rica for 2 weeks over the holidays and we are contemplating moving there. we are in the process of getting a rental unit there for 6 months to test it out to see if it is a move we would like to make. we have found a beautiful condo which allows pets! (its been hard finding one.) ive looked into taking a pet into Costa Rica which seems to be a simple process...no quarantine time at all, but it seems to be a little more complicated to get them back into Canada. i cant seem to find solid information on what is required. has anyone else (originally from canada) done international travel with their pets ? we have one pup and one kitty. i think it is a simple process, but just wanted to get some info first hand from anyone who has done this themselves! thanks in advance! |

| I've never done it personally, but when you look into a airline, be sure to check the details. Some airlines are quite harsh in the way they port around pets. When I traveled to DisneyWorld with my family, I saw a animal mover ship around their crates. They slide them quite roughly. With a yorkie being so small and fragile, you may want to check into some extra care with your little one. |

| I agree. I've only had mine six days, but I know I would be worried sick if mine was apart from me for so long in such a crazy enviroment. |

we too have thought about moving to Costa Rica, and were thinking the same thing, how hard is it to bring your animals into Costa Rica....we have 2 big parrots and I do believe that the parrots will not be allowed into Costa Rica. you bring up another question for me....you were saying its hard to find a place that will take pets??? are there a lot of condos that will not accept pets??

if you bought a condo im sure you could bring as many pets as you wanted into it...but we have just been looking at rental units right now and most are requesting no pets. (figured we would rent first to see if it is someplace we would like to live, and then buy if it is. ) most are actually ok with the yorkie, but the cat seems to be the problem...hes long haired. im not too sure about the parrots though... if you do enough research you will be able to find a place that allows pets though. we just found one that i think we are going to take! im so excited
