| I need your opinion, please As some of you may remember from my eariler posts. I have a son with special needs. Well he has a friend named Haley and thinks the world of her. Ever since I brought Sadie home, my son has been calling her Haley. I have told him her name is Sadie but her keeps calling her Haley. I actually like the name Haley. Would it tramatize Sadie if we switched her name? It would really make things so much easier. |

| I'd change her name, They sound so much alike I don't think she'll notice the differance? I think they listen to our tones instead of our words. Good Luck! |

| We've gotten dogs that were years old and changed their names. They learned their new names quickly and without any problems. She'll be fine if you change it and the names are enough alike I think she will learn it very fast.

| You can definetly change names...just think of all the dogs that have been abandoned at shelters..they have had names their whole lives but usually they get new names when adopted..it will work! Dawn |

| My Emma was 2 yrs. when I got her, her name at that time was Sha-Na-Na, I changed it to Emma and she responded very well. Maybe she didn't like that name either. LOL!!!!!!

| I don't see any problem at all. My gang all get alert no matter who's name I call out. I think dogs go more by the tone of your voice anyway. You might use both names to begin with so she will associate the new name with the old name......like "Good giril, Sadie Haley" |
