| White on Chest I'm hunting for a pup for my mom who has fallen in love with mine on her last two visits. I have found a pet quality pup here for a very fair price, but was a little concerned about the white on the chest (see picture). Is this something that happens and is an anomaly or is this pup probably not a purebred. I was thinking I had read before about some purebreds coming out with white on their chest, but couldn't find it. Any info would be much appreciated.

| Bailey has a patch of white, on his chest, and a little on his chin. I think it is not uncomman.

| Bandit was born with a white patch on his chest and chin. He's purebred. I guess it's sorta like how biewers came to be. They came from purbred yorkies. I think it's cute.

| Thanks everyone -- that was what I was secretly hoping you guys would say!! Isn't she the cutest little thing? Villette -- she is quite roly-poly and with her tounge out she looks like she's saying "OMG I shouldn't have eaten that last bite" -- I think I'm in love with her too I'm going to contact the breeder now and let her know I am definately interested and arrange to go see them in person (I haven't done that yet cuz I'm such a sucker for puppies)

| One of my puppies has that white crest on his chest too. I was concerned, but was told that it is acceptable for the chest and toes as it will blend, and that it "might" be a sign of a "silk" coat. And I know for a fact my puppies are prue breeds, As I know my dog and chose the sire for her. Here is a picture of one of my puppies, see the white between my fingers. Sorry the picture isn't very good to see the white crest, I wasn't looking to take a picture of that when I took this one.

| What a cutie pie! Everything I've read here on YT about white points in the direction that it's alright. I've never seen an adult yorkie with it though, I think it turns to silver or beige at some point. Lida has white but it's going away little by little and coming in silver or beige. That's one healthy looking little pup though, and that's what's really, really important.

| Our little one has a white patch and it looks sooo cute. However in Denmark that makes her unfit for shows. Only blue/tan can show here. Who cares - she has me to love her

Karen, thank you. It was great to here from a breeder first hand that says it is okay and that it is acceptable and of course nothing is better than a picture! Thanks so much for taking the time to share pics of your puppy too!

| Pet quality In your post you called the puppy pet quality. The amount of white on the puppy's chest will not make a differance in the amount of love that it can give to you- or you can give to it. If you are wanting a puppyto show and or breed it might make a differance. Many YT have white on the chest it is quite common. This white is masked as the other coat grows long and covers it. If a breeder has a concern as to the amount of white on the chest- thay may grade the puppy as pet/companion quality. Wnalegria |

Yes, the puppy is just for a pet for my mom. The white will not matter at all to her or even to me. My only concern was to ensure that this was normal and not a sign the dog was actually a mix. I don't want to pay that kind of money for a mix. However, I would gladly pay it for a full-blood yorkie.
