| For those who have experience with Baytril.. The vet prescribed Baytril for Reese's bladder infection..22.7 mg (1 pill) per day.. Is that the correct dosage..she vomited this morning and I am nervous. Thanks

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | good question - my cockers were prescribed baytril ALL the time for ear infections - but I didn't know it was for bladder infections too - you may want to call another vet and ask them if this is common practice |

| Did she have her pill with food? Most antibiotics should be taken with a meal since they can cause tummy upset. |

| I'm surprised they didn't try Clavamox, especially if the urine was cultured. Baytril makes me nervous. I don't know the dose because I have never had to use it for Ellie.

| baytril dosage That dosage doesn't sound out of line at once a day but try to make sure fluid intake is adaquate as this can sometimes cause crystals to form in urine |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | the dosage is just fine. baytril is a very common drug used for infections. Clavamox is more of a general antibiotic. how much does your dog weigh?

| No, please don't be nervous... It is just that Baytril has been connected to blindness...but that is more so in cats and at higher doses. It just isn't my first choice but your dog is under the supervision of a vet so don't worry. Ellie is about to take an antibiotic that I am not comfortable with (flagyl)... That doesn't mean it is really that dangerous though.

| I have used Baytril with no side effects. I was told to use 9 mg. per lb. and to give that dosage once per day. I have also given 1/2 of the dosage twice per day. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | reese is on the low end of the spectrum for baytril. Baytril can be give at 5-20 mg/kg. Reese is getting about 7 mg/kg. its ok.
