| I am curious? I am curious to know what you guys think. If you had to pick one of these scenarios which one would it be. Im not saying either is correct but if you had to pick, a 8 week old puppy that had been raised in home under foot. Or a 12 week old puppy that was raised in a kennel. |

| I guess I need would need more info... When you say raised underfoot - is this a breeder with only a few dogs that live inside. Puppies have been well-socialized? Why selling at 8 weeks? When you say kennel - what type of kennel? Is this a puppymill, a large byb, or a small kennel situation? What type of socialization has the puppy had? Does this breeder normally sell at 12 weeks or has this puppy just not sold yet? I would also want to know what kind of health screening each breeder does before breeding.

You said both breeders did all necessary health testing which is great I prefer home-raised over kennel situation definitely I prefer the breeder to only raise one breed - not two or more Both breeders will actually let them go earlier than 12 weeks - but the one is only keeping it because you asked her to. I would honestly be wary of both breeders for letting the puppies go before 12 weeks. The YTCA states in their code of ethics that yorkie breeders should keep puppies a minimum of 12 weeks. JMO

| I guess I will disagree, though not very strongly (what's that old expression...it's about 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other) I think I would choose the 12 week old puppy, assuming as you said both are socialized on a daily basis. I don't think it's impossible to reputably raise two breeds, or to adequately socialize in a kennel situation. So assuming this was done, I would choose the older one. |

| I would take the 8 week old..I'm home all the time, and as I've said a lot of times before, I like getting them around 6-8 weeks, but, that's just me.. |

| I would pass on both, but if I had to choose I would get the twelve week old puppy. The YTCA specifically states in it's rules that breeders shall not sell a puppy before twelve weeks old. I would not buy a purebred puppy from a breeder who violates the breed club's rules. The socialization period is between 7-11 weeks. It is very important for the puppy to be with his mom and littermates during this time to learn important lessons that will effect his behavior as an adult. A breeder who lets a puppy go at only eight weeks is not knowledgable enough to be breeding IMO and I would not want a puppy from her. Many puppies from the larger show kennels are not home raised, but they have kennel staff who play with and socialize the puppies regularly. I would prefer a puppy from a smaller show kennel for that reason. |

| If I had to choose between the two I would go with the 12 week old. 8 weeks is still kind of young.
