| Reguarding the suspected puppymill here in WI Well, after seeing this place posted and realizing how close it was to me I really wanted to check this place out. So, since I have had so much stress lately I have been really neglecting my dogs attention wise and wasn't really in the mood to play, and since they love rides so much I thought it was a great way to pay attention to them and clear my mind. (driving clears my head) I took a friend of mine with me who works for our local animal shelter and we went to check this place out. Now, I have read through all the posts on the original thread about this place and I really dont want this to turn into some big debate or arguement. If it does I might have to get ticked off and tell some people off and get into trouble. I know that alot of you respect me and my point of view and I would hope that you would also respect the point of view of an animal control officer that is a very close friend of mine. This place was barely visable from the road but you could smell the dog poop and hear the dogs barking almost a mile away. There was no fence up around the property and no guard dogs so my friend and I decided to take a look. HEHE sneaky sneaky.... I parked the car about 1/4 mile down the road and took Recon with me. He is great off leash so we figured out the plan in case we were caught, and were going to say that he ran off and we were looking for him. I had the leash over my shoulder. I couldn't handle the smell when we got closer. Seriously, I was gagging. Poor Recon kept looking at me like I was nuts. My friend and I walked through the tree line toward the place and there were 9 YES 9 buildings with dog runs off of them, lined with gravel that was so full of dog crap I couldn't believe it. Most of the buildings were open on one end and we could see in them. (By the light of a lighter, forgot the flashlight) they were lined on the inside with kennels that had about 15 dogs of all sizes. then down the center of the buildings there were crates stacked 3 high with 3 or 4 dogs in each. All the buildings were like that. They had all kinds of dogs in there. I wish I had took bolt cutters with me cause I would have let the whole heard out. One smaller building had puppies of all kinds in it. I couldn't really see in it really well but I could tell that there were at least 50 pups in it. Up closer to the house were some smaller buildings that had a few dogs in them but as we were approaching that building the lights in the house came on and we got a little freaked out. As we got back in the car, a truck pulled out of the driveway and pulled up near us. He asked if we were OK and I said yes, we had just moved in about a mile away and my dog ran off. TOld him that we found my dog and he told us to have a nice night and drove off. I got his plate # as he drove away and my friend is going to call that counties animal control unit and get something done about it. We are thinking about going back again and doing the same thing that we did tonite. So what I am saying here is that this place is a puppymill any way you cut it. Please dont turn this into a debate or an arguement. Thanks Kristy for bringing this place to my attention. I had never heard about this place before and it was only 25 min north of me. |

| Kelly: I would like to thank you for checking out that place. I am truly saddened that this happens all over the world! I guess we need smell-a-monitors when we're looking at online photos of mills like that. Anyone can clean up their area for a cleverly angled photograph of a mill that deceives! Thank you for putting a hot issue to rest!

"I didn't hear it" If I were closer to you I would glady bring bolt cutters and a rented truck to bring them home and give them to people who would just love and appreciate the value of these inocent lives that depend on us to protect and keep them from harm, recon, I believe your spirit has a little rebel with a cause | |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Kelly - that was very good undercover work !! I think you have a calling for it good job having Recon with you - and I'm happy to hear about your grandma too !! On that mill - I remember when I first met my hubby - he had cockers - we went to get Tessa at the "BREEDER" who sold cockers - it was a mill and this is BEFORE I had heard what Mills were. I was totally shocked and upset. this operated just outside Houston city limits WAY back off a main road where you can't see it. As I said in my 'other' post regarding Puppy Mills - ANYONE who has been to a mill - will KNOW it's a mill and will NEVER forget it. The smell is UNBELIEVABLE....the barking is relentless and those doggies just plead to be set free.... This is even MORE sad hearing because it's not just the "big" mills that are operating - there are many small ones and shutting them down is very hard. The Guidelines are set up in such a way they can easily skirt around providing proper care and medical attention. The bottom line is they are just FULL of suffering and pain. How many dogs would you say were onsite when you being "Columbo" ? A small mill can hold 200-500 dogs easily when you consider they stack cages and have multiple dogs per cage. I also want to add - HATS Off to you for caring enough to go there and for doing such a good job not getting caught. If what you saw from a distance was bad - you can imagine how truly sickening it must be inside. Hats off also to Yorkietalk Admin for taking a stand against puppy mills -I know it's a touchy subject - but it shouldn't be. We all should be on the same page - if it looks like a mill....smells like a mill - then it must BE a mill.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | THIS is a great link for anyone who wants to learn more - Thank you again Kelly for taking your time to visit and give your first hand views on a mill. We all can do a search on the net - write letters - and protest mills - I've personally written probably 50 letters in the last 3 years - but places like Kelly visited are just like any other mill - big or small - the bottom line is profit and ALL the animals suffer for it....For additional reading here is a ONE PAGE informational link - http://www.mydog8it.com/puppy_mills.htm other simple things you can do: NEVER shop a Pet Store - Tell your friends to say no to Pet Stores that sell live animals Buy your pet supplies from a store that doesn't sell puppies or kittens. Adopt a dog from a shelter or get your puppy from a responsible breeder. Spread the news! Write letters - email anyone you can - sign petitions. There are many sites that offer addresses you can write to. The more people that step up to the plate - the better chances these poor animals have of being saved. |
