| Yorkie looker in TX Goodness! Seems I can't find yorkie breeders UNLESS they are in TX. Look at: http://www.puppydogweb.com/caninebre.../yorkshire.htm TONS of breeders in Texas, but according to some Yorkieposters here, avoid The Shady Creek -- oh wait, that was the nickname -- anyway, something Creek Kennel in Texas. Yorkiepup.com is based near Plano, and they seem reputable, but I want to visit kennel/breeder I purchase from and don't wanna sit in the truck 12 hours one way, nor do I want to fly a pup. They picture their kennel online and have SUPER informative stuff, but you never know. Gotta be careful. I have had a hard time here in Al finding one. The South- everyone wants birddogs, labs, pit bulls, danes, etc. Good Luck! |

| another important thing once you have chosen a breeder, is to ask lots of questions, the breeder should ask you lots of questions in return......... if the situation just doesnt feel right then say "thanks ill keep you in mind" and leave....... another important thing is to TAKE YOUR TIME, DO NOT i repeat DO NOT just get the first yorkie you see, you should read up on "temperment and reflex tests" and "physical" tests you can perform when checking out the puppies......... if the puppy is lethargic beware! |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Glad to see another Texan, I live in Beaumont. I got me two locally. There is a member on here from around your area and might be able to help. Is around College Station to far, I have a breeders name, she is a friend of the breeder I got my fiirst yorkie from 17 years ago. I found her when I was looking for mine now. Also look in the Houstonchronicle.com and they alway have some yorkies in there. Take your time and make sure you see what kind of living conditions they have. There are alot of puppymills and puppy brokers in Texas, but if you do your research you will find a good breeder. It is hard to walk away from a cute puppy, but take your time and like others have said ask a lot of questions. You can pm me and I will give you some breeders names. |

| Welcome! I understand how you feel. I didn't find these Yorkie sites until after I already had Tatum but if I had known then what I do now, I would have been scared to get one too. Fortunately, Tatum is perfect! Of course we all love our babies to pieces but she is truly a good Yorkie "specimen". I feel that we really lucked out with her. I live in Brenham, TX and bought Tatum from a lady outside of Houston. I would recommend her but only from my experience with how Tatum has turned out. As with any breeder, there are probably some unhappy customers, but we were totally satisfied. If Houston is not too far for you, send me a PM and I'll share her information. There is also another poster from the Houston area on here so maybe you can get more TX info. I know she looked for a long time and did a lot more research on breeders than I did. I did almost have a bad experience. The first breeder I went to ended up being one that I know now is horrible! Thank goodness I walked away without the precious little girl I went to see. I think we would have been very unhappy with her. It's hard to NOT get one that looks sad just because you don't want them to be left behind but you have to take into consideration the time you will invest in your pup in the long run. Let me know if you want more info! And Good Luck!

| Hi, and good luck with finding a good breeder, I live in Waco Texas, and my brother's girlfriend's parents breed yorkies, they are in the Temple Texas area, my girlfriend and I both received our dogs at the same time, and I am just crazy about my little man....Her parents were very nice and sweet and I received him in a basket with his AKC papers, shot records, small bag of the brand of dog food she fed the puppies, and his little towel with his mother's scent on it. TatumsMom....I have family in Brenham Tx, Last edited by Gale; 01-03-2005 at 01:48 PM. |

| I live in the DFW metroplex and did quite a bit of research when searching for my pupster. I spoke with a man whom is in SanAntonio and produces a nice line of dogs. I have heard that he is reputable. He's active in YTCA and shows. I have a pretty extensive list of breeders in North Texas and someone in Oklahoma. Let me know if you need more info.
