| Sad... Yesterday afternoon I was driving down a fairly busy road (6 lanes total). Just as I was going through an intersection, the light turned yellow. I was the last car to make it through. I was about 100 or so meters past the intersection when something made me look in my rearview mirror. I saw 2 dogs running across the road and they both got hit. The car that hit them didnt stop at all, and they passed me after I slammed on my brakes. Cars started coming through the intersection and a mother and son (?) came out of the shrubs that only seconds earlier their 2 dogs ran out of. I dont know what kind of city I live in, but as the cars came through the intersection, not one of them stopped. I will never know if those 2 dogs made it or not, but I cant get the image of them being hit out of my head. I cant even imagine the heartache that little boy is going through. I know that not everyone is an animal lover, but what on earth would posess someone to not stop if they hit a dog? It wasnt the drivers fault they got hit (they literally came out of a shrub and bolted into the road), but he just kept going. They werent big dogs, they were medium sized family dogs. |

| I think you find those kind of people all over, unfortunately. It is awful to see a dog being run over, really breaks my heart. If only people would take more care on the roads. AND stop for goodness sake! Sheilagh

| That would be a horrible image to try and shake from your head. I'm so sorry you had to wittness that and I feel terrible for the family. What kind of world do we live in when we can kill something and not even bother to stop. It makes me very sad.

| Your story reminds me of the time I hit and killed a dog. He just ran right out in front of me and there was no way I could stop in time. Of course, I stopped but the disturbing thing was the owner came out and the dog was dead and I was just in shock and he came out and was complaining about the "stupid dog" and grabbed him by the collar and just picked him up by the collar and carried him off. I still have the image in my head. I cried all the way to work but I don't think his owner even cared. It was just so sad.... |
