| neutered dogs still hump??!! Ok so we met this really nice couple on the next block from us with a one year old German Shepard, Chow, and Husky mix (rescued as a puppy).. We decided to have a little meet at her house yesterday. Kayah's not really a dog fan.. she'll just ignore them... everything was going great until he tried to hump her .. At first, I thought "OK I've seen neutered dogs try to hump before" But then he just wouldn't let up... Kayah finally said enough is enough came into my arms... and this dog STILL wouldn't leaved her alone... So she started to get POed .. and started snapping at him.. she never once bit him.. but ya'll know what I'm talking about.. His owner, too, was like "what in the world?!" I thought neutered males don't try to do that type of thing anymore?? Am I wrong?? This is just so bewildering to me

| I think that was a dominant behavior and not a sexual one. Dogs will still "hump" to assert dominance. Some neutered dogs DO still hump though. From what I've read, the earlier you neuter, the less likely. Gizmo still does it sometimes, but not with the frequency he did before he was neutered.

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | LOL...he knew she was a visitor and then he realized she was a girl. Supposedly the hormones are gone with the neuter. But I think depending on how long they were intact they have learned a few things.

| OK...so Tino was neutered right at six months, and before this he did "hump", but only a certain doll that he had. So, three years later, he still humps, but only one doll. We bought him a doll at babies'r'us and this is his girlfriend. He has never attempted to hump another dog, in fact when Lola was in heat, he stayed as far away from her as possible!!! But, without fail, he will pull his doll out, do his business with her, and then kiss her when he is done, or better yet, he snuggles with her...putting her in one of his doggie beds. So, I am quite sure this is not a dominance thing, and personally I think it is kind of adorable how chivalrous he is with her Ha! ha!

| I have females and one male neurered. They hump each other, female to female, female to male and vice versa. It's a dominance issue. Sometimes it looks like a swingers club |

| Both my boys are neutered, they only try to hump when there is another male dog around. Definately dominance, instead of sexual.
