| Don't pick up Gramma's Dogs!!! I know my YT family will understand The grandaughters were over yesterday, and everyone in my family knows my RULE about not picking up my furbabies! Well, my daughter and I are chatting away, I instinctly look around for Maggie & Bailey and don't see them and the house is too quiet!! I run into the sunroom, where & usually hang out. I couldn't believe it The 7 yr old grandaughter put both my furbabies' topknots in tight braids The first thing out of my grandaughters mouth is "Gramma I didn't pick them up, they were just laying there." After I regained my composure and took out the braids, I made a New Rule, Don't touch the dogs, and nobody goes in the sunroom without Gramma!! Thanks for listening to me vent!! Kathy |

| I would have been frightened too! I don't have grandchildren probably never will but I have young great nephews. When they are here I am a nervous wreck. |

| I have 2 g-kids, the oldest (a boy) will be 9 in April, he's allowed to pick up all of mine, the little 5 year old(girl) can sit and hold them, although, I have seen her pick them up, I nicely tell her no, you can sit and hold them..I've been very forutnate with my g-kids, they are both very gentle with all my dogs, have been raised to be good to them and never hurt them..I feel very fortunate |

| Not meaning to offend you or anything i am just wondering why you do not want your grandchildren fussing with your babies as she is obviously old enough to know to be gentle. No doubt when you set this rule she was told it was because she could hurt them very easily. Therefore she obeyed you (cause she did not want them to be hurt) and instead found a seemingly harmless way to spend time with your babies. I do not think she mean any harm and since your dogs just layed there the entire time i don't think that they minded either. I posted this simply because i do not know why you are so upset and also, only about 10 years ago i was that age and wanting to be around animals every single minute and i still do |

I also know that if my dogs could've gotten away, they would have! They were shaking like leaves when I rescued them.

i love and adore my nieces... but jeeeeeez.... i find it so difficult to outright say "no dont touch the pups!" ..... they are just too little to be handled so roughly.... i never realized i'd be so protective of them but i am...they are like my babies!

| I dont let anyone under 16 pick up my yorkies. And if they do I politely take them from their lil hands before they get dropped. I had a friend who had her yorkie dropped, he landed on his head and after dealing with multiple medical problems (including seizures), had to be put down. I dont know maybe I am a lil over protective, but they are my lil joys! |

| I hope you took a picture. I'm sure 10 years from now you both would have a smile on your face looking back on this. Like how you have set the children's ground rules. By your granddaughters response, it sounds like she respected them and was nicely playing beauty salon with grandma friends. ;-) That was a Kodak moment. |

| Letting the g-kids hold puppies is a favorite thing to do at my house. I taught them all from babies and they all do fine. One of the first things the 5yo asks is "Can I hold a puppy?". The older ones can even play with my tea cup collection and homemade porcelain dolls.
